Young Shepherd Found as Stray Back at Shelter After Adopters Never Came for Him

Jack, a two-year-old male German shepherd, is back at the crowded Carson Animal Care Center after his adoptive family failed to pick him up when he was found as a stray again. Jack first entered the shelter as a stray in September 2022. After spending weeks there, he was adopted by a family. Unfortunately, Jack was found as a stray once more in January 2023, and his family never returned for him. Now, Jack’s life is in danger and he needs help finding a new home.

Staff and volunteers at the shelter describe Jack as a perfect, friendly pup. He is already neutered and ready to be adopted by a loving family. Jack has been at the overcrowded shelter for too long, and sharing his story with approved rescue organizations, friends, family, and social media contacts can help save his life.

Jack is available for public adoption. Older children and families with big dogs would be the best fit for Jack, as he is active and gets along well with other dogs. You can follow Jack’s plight on social media here

Here’s how Jack was described by the volunteers:

1/19/23 – a5501720(altered) Jack:

Jack was exchanging barks with his neighbor as the runner approached. Jack noticed the runner and greeted the runner sniffing and licking her hand. Jack displayed a relaxed body, relaxed tail with a soft wag, open mouth pant, and soft eyes.

Jack was easily leashed and removed from the kennel. Jack walked ahead of the runner with a moderate pull on the leash bypassing the dogs along the way.

Once in the catch pen jack was easily collared and leashed soliciting petting during the process. Jack gave a timid greet at the barrier and was allowed into the yard. Once in the yard jack was overwhelmed at first scurrying away from the dogs.

Jack remained on the periphery of the dogs at play appearing interested in their play. Little by little jack began to engage and join in the play. Jack began to become more confident and engaged in push pull play and would run about the yard and play chase. Jack would also approach the handlers and solicit petting before heading back to play.
