The Sai Kung Stray Friends Foundation in Hong Kong’s New Territories is in critical financial need, leaving the lives of 130 dogs unknown as well as the 25+ street dogs the rescue feeds daily. While the rescue organization may be thousands of miles from where we live, their work with helping the strays, the surrendered and the injured remains a universal cause.
A senior dog dubbed Billy has been waiting at a busy California animal control agency for over a month…hoping against hope that someone will stop by his lonely kennel run to say hello. The eight-year-old dog has been at the Carson Animal Services facility since March 3, and to date, nobody has decided that he is worthy of their love and attention.
Stray dogs abandoned along South Texas roads near the Mexican border have tragically become too common. On the outskirts of rural communities, where dogs are often neglected and cast away because their owners no longer care for them, the dogs scavenge for food and live in danger of being run over or attacked by wild animals.
At the Carson Animal Care Center, a seven-year-old German shepherd arrived on April 1 and was rushed into surgery for a ruptured spleen. The dog came in as a stray, and the shelter has issued a plea for help for either a qualified foster home or approved rescue organization can assist and save this dog’s life.
A frightened 10-week-old tan and white puppy hasn’t had anyone interested in adopting or fostering him for weeks. For some unknown reason, Roscoe’s plight has barely been noticed, and sadly the overcrowding of shelters with stray and unwanted pets, has made the difficult decision of euthanasia a reality – even for the very young.
