Watch Maddie fill up her pool all by herself with the help of the garden hose! What a smart dog she is for figuring out where the hose should be placed and what to fill with water. It doesn’t matter if the surroundings around the pool area also got splashed with water, right? Now she just needs to work a little bit harder where patience is concerned!

Well, what do you expect from a Labrador who’s only 6 months old! That’s a different task altogether. I’m sure her owners will be able to train her well and before summer’s up, she’ll patiently fill up the pool on her own without drenching the other areas around it!

But in giving medications, we get to deal with another kind of struggle. The struggle of successfully administering the medication to our stubborn dogs. And who could blame them? Needles hurt and medicines taste awful! So we think of clever and creative ways to trick them in to taking their meds; like hiding the capsules in their favorite food!

But the Rottweiler in the video below is too smart for that trick! Brutus the Rottie has arthritis, and his dad has tried all the tricks in the book to make him take his meds. He pretends to swallow the meds, but he spits it out when dad is not looking! In the video, Brutus is playing dead instead of swallowing his meds! Check it out!

Brutus is very stubborn and very smart! And he’s so adorable too!

Luckily, his dad found a solution to trick Brutus into swallowing his meds. According to the comments in YouTube, he got Brutus some Skippys extra crunchy peanut butter! He puts the pills in it and he gobbled it right up! Hopefully he won’t discover the pills in the peanut butter like he did the last time when his dad hid them in hotdogs!

When a forest fire raged through the city of Valparaíso, Chile, a mother dog was not about to wait for humans to come to the rescue. No, this momma pup took matters into her own paws and used that noodle her momma gave her to save her litter of very young pooches.

This is what they were up against.

Momma, now named Blackie, saw a metal storage container a safe distance away from the flames.

She was wise enough to dig a hole underneath it and place her nine babies safely inside.

After the flames died down, rescuers retrieved the pups from their safe haven.

Everyone seemed to be just fine, all thanks to Mom.

After locals caught wind of their amazing story…

There have been many offers to adopt both the pups and Blackie.

Who wouldn’t want to take this bundle of joy home?

That’s a face of relief if I ever saw one!

It really is amazing to see a community come together to help a mom in need after such a devastating event. It’s especially amazing since saving those puppies was a real team effort between Blackie and the rescuers. We hope all the puppies and Blackie have safe, long, and happy lives in their new forever homes.

Lynn Stacey of the UK has a variety of disabilities, and says she’d be lost without her assistance dog, Bella.

“You wouldn’t believe what Bella can do, she’s amazing. From fetching me things to helping me undress and emptying the washing machine. I’d be lost without her,” she told the Sunderland Echo.

Because she’s so smart, Stacey is putting her to the challenge by teaching her a trick a day to raise money for Dog A.I.D., an organization that helps disabled clients train their pets to assist them with tasks.

“We already do the Dog A.I.D stand at Crufts to inform people about the charity, but I also wanted to do something completely different to help them.

“Bella is already a Champion Trick Dog and she loves doing her tricks so I thought, why not do a trick a day for a year?”

Stacey uploads videos of Bella’s tricks to the website, where people can sponsor specific tricks.

“Some are very simple tricks, some are more complex. She plays dead, does the meerkat where she stands on her back legs, and does a hand stand on her front legs, all sorts of things.

“We’ve raised £160 ($240) so far and we’re hoping to raise £1,000 ($1,500) by the end of the year.”

Stacey is training to be an Associate Trick Dog instructor, and says that performing makes Bella happy.

“Bella is at her best when she is learning, so adding tricks to her existing knowledge base made perfect sense,” she said. “It has brought us closer as a working partnership and many of the tricks have a purpose in our everyday life as well.”
