Elizabeth Spence, Archie’s mom, loves taking pictures of her kids and has been sharing them on her Instagram for the last few years, but it’s only when she saw the connection between her son Archie and her dog Nora that she saw the beauty and security that a shy rescue dog found in taking naps with her son.

Seven years ago, the Spence’s rescued Nora from a puppy mill in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She was a 1-year-old English Pointer, born and raised in deplorable conditions and needed a big rescue. The Spence’s were all to happy to assist.

Coming into the home, she was afraid of everything, and it took a lot of coaxing to get her out of her shell. It was only when she met, now 11-month old, Archie, that she really blossomed into the sensitive and amazing dog that she is.

Archie, probably the cutest kid in the world, grew up around rescues, as the family in total has 2 dogs, 3 cats, and he’s got 2 older siblings, so he’s not phased by having a dog follow him around. He was drawn to Nora, and she became his protector.

Especially at nap time. In an interview with the Winnipeg Free Press, she mentions that she’ll nurse Archie and place him on the bed, with Nora watching over and the second that he’s down for a nap, she’s right in there, snuggling beside him.

What’s even more amazing is that Spence has become an advocate for adoption and rescues, using her Instagram photos of Nora and Archie to talk about the wonderful things that can happen when you save a dogs life.

Based on these photos, rescuing Nora was a brilliant idea. She loves her human and he loves her right back.

If that doesn’t getcha in the feels, I don’t know what will..

When they’re not napping, they’re always playing together.

Nap time looked so comfy, that soon Remi, the Spence’s other Pointer, joined in.

The cats would jump in on that as well.

The bed looks so comfortable, and look how peaceful everyone looks. Now that’s what I call the perfect entourage; cute kids and happy rescues.

Everyone deserves to be happy, especially the doggos.

Who’s ready for a nap?

Not only was Maverick rescued from a kill shelter, where he was mostly skin and bones, but he’s recently been diagnosed with Lymphoma.

His family did what any family would do; they fought it. The first round of chemotherapy was a success and Maverick went into remission. Two months ago, however, it came back and the chemo made Maverick so weak, he couldn’t walk. Everything looked dire and they worried that this would his last days.

So his owner Joey Maxwell had a brilliant idea. He put Maverick on a wagon and took him for walks through the town. Thinking that this might be it, he wanted Maverick to enjoy his last days, being outside and just loving life.

They went to the local hardware store, and knowing that all of their savings had been spent on chemo for Maverick, they had very little money for a wagon. After sharing his story, Maxwell and Maverick got a discount on a some wheels from the touched employees, to make the ride extra comfortable for Maverick.

I mean how can you not love this guy? He’s adorable!

Originally the plan was to take it day by day, but every day they go for a walk, and the neighbours make a point to give Maverick a pat.

Just look how much he loves the rides and his adoring supporters.

And the town gives him so much love.

But you should never discount the power of love, because what looked like Maverick’s last week, turned out to be his motivation to fight.

Maverick got up a few days ago, with the help of a wheelchair and he’s moving on his own.

Even sitting up unaided. How’s that for a turnaround? This guy is one hell of a fighter.

Blue is the best friend and service dog for Owen Lima; a man who had a severe car accident 40 years ago and has been living with a brain injury.

Owen and Blue were walking through Northgate Mall, when he saw a hiring stand for a new Lowe’s location was opening, and he decided to apply; only he told the recruiter that he and Blue were a package deal.

The store manager didn’t even bat an eye and conducted the interview as normal and decided to hire both Owen and Blue for the store.

He also did a little research about service dogs and found that all they needed was for Blue have a uniform and a place to chill out with some water, food and a blanket.

Lowe’s Canada shared this image on Facebook, and so far it’s been shared 15K times since Owen started this past Monday.

He’s a also got a little name tag. How awesome is that?

So far, Owen’s doing well. Customers love him and Blue and for the first time in a decade, he feels like he belongs.

As a customer service representative, Owen is able to help the community he’s grown up in, as he knows everyone and they all know him as well.

As for Blue, he’s loving it.

Keep up the good work, guys!

Ricochet was born to become a service dog for those with disabilities. But she was a little mischievous and enjoyed chasing after birds a bit too much — not the best trait in a service dog who needs to provide constant attention to her companion. At first her owner was a bit disappointed, but she quickly realized that Ricochet had a very unique talent. A talent so special that it would end up helping hundreds of people with disabilities learn to surf!

What a special dog Ricochet is, and she’s just as valuable on land! She’s raised more than $200,000 for different charities through both her Facebook page and events. Not to mention the countless people around the world she’s inspired with her story.

When Chester was taken in by Animal Ark Rescue, they knew he was in bad shape. His hair was long and matted, his teeth were in poor condition and his body was covered in tumors. Realizing he probably didn’t have much more time, the rescue center began searching for a family willing to take in the terminally ill dog in order to give him the final home he deserved.

That’s when Nicole Elliott stepped in.

Elliot couldn’t bear the thought of him dying alone – she “fell in love the moment [she] saw him”

“I had to consider it for a while and decide if I could handle it. I decided it would be an amazing experience to take on”

“I knew that it would be my responsibility to make his final days the best I could, to mine and his ability”

“As you can see his favorite spot is on the center console. I think he feels like a king up there”

“I am trying to give him normal doggy experiences that he may have never had the chance to do before, and a ton of spoiling”

“He doesn’t seem to be in much pain, but he is slow due to his age”

“Out of all of that his favorite part has been any of the food and treats – he still has a HUGE appetite”

“He likes his hair blowing in the wind, but his legs aren’t stable enough to stand and put his head out the window”

“He had surgery to remove some tumors. Soon after more tumors started showing up on his body. Today he has many cancerous lumps all over his body”

“He is also heart worm positive. He is still so sweet and as perky as he could be”

Nicole’s daughter Paisley also tries to make Chester’s days as joyful as possible

“So far he took a ride with the windows down, he had a famous Nathans hot dog, he had a doggie sundae, he had a milk and oatmeal bath (spa day), he went on a shopping spree where he got a cozy bed, bandannas, lots of treats, and toys”

“It will be so tough to lose him shortly, so I decided to take the time he has left (which is undetermined, but not guessed to be very long,) and make it as happy as I can”

Faith was found by Jude Stringfellow, a kind woman who happened upon her when the mother dog was trying to smother Faith. Jude adopted Faith, and though veterinarians told her she needed to be euthanized, Jude decided to give the little dog a chance. Over time, Faith began to walk on her back legs, helped by Jude’s use of a spoon with peanut butter as an incentive.

Watch as the happy dog surprises returning vets at St. Louis International Airport.

Faith used to greet returning vets at airports all over the country, so much so that the U.S. Army made her an honorary sergeant for inspiring disabled war veterans. Her story is one of strength and perseverance, an easily relatable tale for our military heroes.

After a lifetime of inspiring others with disabilities, Faith died on September 23, 2014. She passed away peacefully with Jude and a platter of cheese at her side. Her tale will live on and inspire many for years to come.
