Once They Took This Pup Out Of The Concrete Cage She Was Living In…She Lit Up

Theia, a young dog, was confined to a dirty, concrete cage in Romania for most of her life. She was denied a proper diet, and was covered in fleas and ticks when rescuers found her at a city pound. When Howl Of A Dog got to her, the poor girl’s organs were failing due to malnutrition, and she was losing the will to live…

But the second she could see what life was like beyond confinement…

She knew she was ready to fight her way back to life.

While she is leagues ahead of where she was in the beginning, Theia still has a long road to recovery, even months after her initial rescue. She put on weight very quickly, but needs more extended treatments for her liver, skin conditions, and other complications that come with such neglect.

Humans Set Her Whole Litter On Fire, But Now She Has A Second Chance

On New Year’s Eve, 2014, something terrible happened in South Korea. Someone took a litter of two-month-old puppies and set them all on fire. There was only one survivor. They named her Journey.

She was brought to the U.S. and given little socks to help her walk around, but that wasn’t sufficient.

It was costly, but enough money was raised to fit her for prosthetic paws, enabling the tiny pup to run and play like any other pooch. Now she’s training to run her first 5K, and is so appreciative of every single thing in her life, including her foster mom (turned forever mom), Marilyn Hendrickson.

Journey still experiences some discomfort, but her veterinarians are confident that with time they will be able to make that disappear with proper prosthetics and care (also, tons of love and treats).

We wish the best for this sweet pup that had such a chillingly awful start to life!

They Tried To Help Him But He Just Got Worse…Because He’s Allergic To Humans

One of the most common allergens for people is animal dander, which is why no one bats an eye when you mention you can’t snuggle with Fluffy or Fido because you’d probably break out in hives. Sure, it’s all too common to be allergic to dogs and cats…but have you ever heard of a pooch who’s allergic to humans?

That seems impossible…right?

Meet Adam.

A year ago, he was rescued from the city pound by Lucky Dog Retreat Rescue.

They thought getting him back on his feet, so to speak, would be as simple as providing him with a healthy diet and a stress-free environment…

But this pup just wouldn’t heal.

The sores on his skin put him in so much pain…

That he was almost euthanized to stop his suffering.

In order to prevent furthering the irritation, the shelter gave him a cone.

After months of failed treatments and extensive blood work, they finally found out that Adam had a slew of allergies.

He was allergic to certain outdoor plants, cat dander, human dander, house flies…the list went on.

While you might think all of the pets and cuddles the cutie got were what was causing his sores, a specialized dermatologist told the shelter otherwise…

Turns out, Adam also had an autoimmune deficiency called pemphigus foliaceus, which is essentially an allergy to one’s self, where the cells that keep the skin together do not cooperate with one another.

Once they discovered the underlying cause, Adam was able to recuperate.

The handsome pup is now in the caring hands of a member of Lucky Dog Retreat Rescue, Beth Weber. She gives him his daily medications, bathes Adam every three days, and alternates shampoos each time.

All of the care he needs is definitely worth seeing that smile! Just look how far he’s come.

He’s now a very playful pup, who likes to fall asleep in fresh, clean laundry, even though he knows he’s not supposed to!

While it might seem like an odd condition, being allergic to human dander isn’t that uncommon for animals — crazy, right? The more you know!

When there isn’t enough room for all the homeless pups in the shelter, the ones with easily treatable yet very ugly health problems are usually the first to get put on the list to be euthanized. It’s hard enough to find homes for completely healthy dogs, let alone ones that look as bad as this pup did when Vet Ranch took him in.

This Dog Survived A Week In The Wilderness…His Rescue Will Make You Tear Up

A routine rescue drill for one three-year-old police dog turned into an ugly reality when the pup went missing, prompting a weeklong search. A team of six trained rescuers went looking for signs of the German Shepherd in the New Zealand wilderness for seven days and nights, while the brave pooch managed to forage for himself.
Thames was reunited with his handler, Mike Wakefield, after the team spotted some fresh paw prints in the mud. Watch the happy reunion below!

After Thames shared some salami with Wakefield, he was healthy enough to trek out of the woods and meet the press, friends, and family. He’ll get a checkup with his vet, just in case, and then he’ll have some much-deserved time off. Rest up, pup!

When A Family Rescued This Dog, They Had No Idea She Had This Hidden Talent

Learning how to play an instrument is no small feat. Countless hours of lessons during which you learn the notes, scales, and chords make performances seem effortless.

While this pup may need to log a few more practice hours before she reaches the top tier of today’s performers, she surely is the cutest musician I’ve ever seen…

Bravo! Bra-VO, Sadie. She really knows how to tickle those ivories. I really admire that she knows when she’s made a mistake…she pauses, and then keeps on going. So persistent!
