Galliher served seven years in the Marines, and multiple tours of duty in Afghanistan. The pair were traveling through Utah, headed home to Washington after attending Marine promotion and retirement ceremonies at Camp Pendleton, when Raider slipped out the door of their motel room.

Heartbroken, the Marine searched throughout the night to no avail. And although he’d walked around the building of the nearby veterinary office next door numerous times, he didn’t think to knock on its door.

Raider hadn’t gotten very far; staffers there had picked him up pretty quickly.

Early the next day, employees at the Midvale office were able to reunite Galliher and his beloved German shepherd. The scene was touching and tearful.

“I got Raider when I felt like I felt like I was in a dark cave and there was no chance of seeing the light again and getting him was like having a little glint of hope,” he told Salt Lake City’s KSTU.

“Having him with me side-by-side makes me more confident, strong, and more like the sergeant in the Marines I once was.”

No one knows how Duke made it all the way to Texas or how his life was during this time. Walking all those miles in two years is possible, but based on the good health he was found in,  Duke had some human help making the long distance trip.

David Walker was out on his Texas property walking the surrounding fields when he spotted some dogs in the distance.

“[I] saw a couple of dogs in the pasture and walked along the side of the house trying to call them,” posted Walker on his Facebook page. “[I] felt a dog’s nose nuzzling my palm. Looked down, thinking I’d see my dog Stella, and it was this Great Dane. Really friendly dog.”

The man took the dog to his veterinarian to get him scanned for a microchip, and even though he was told not to get his hopes up about finding a chip – let alone one that was active and up to date, the good Samaritan was in for a huge surprise.

“Within 15 minutes [the veterinarian] was calling to tell me this big boy’s name is Duke, and his owner, who lives in Oklahoma some 350 miles away, hasn’t seen him since December of 2013. She said he was really choked up, in tears, on the phone,” said Walker.

The dog’s owner was identified as Julio and he couldn’t believe his best friend had been found. After two years and three months not knowing anything about the dog, hope of ever reuniting with him was almost all gone. As soon as Julio heard his dog was well and waiting for him in Texas, he packed up his car and made the long distance trip to meet with his buddy and bring him back home. Walker later said the gentle giant never forgot his owner, he recognized even the sound of his truck.

Once again here’s proof that microchips do work. It saves lives and makes reunions possible.

Pablo told Clarin.com he took his three dogs, Tayron, Ayken and Afro out for a walk in his Buenos Aires, Argentina, neighborhood. When they returned home he thought all three dogs had gone up to the apartment with him but that wasn’t the case. Only Ayken and Afro went up and Tayron stayed outside the complex. The pet owner didn’t realize his dog was missing until hours later and by then Tayron was gone.

The couple say the black French Bulldog is a very special dog. The Argentinean couple had been trying to conceive a child and had even experienced two failed IVF treatments. During this difficult time Tyron provided them with the love and peace they needed. Fortunately, the calm environment the dog helped create allowed the wan-to-be-parents to naturally conceive.

When the dog went missing, the owners didn’t hesitate to pull all stops and spend whatever was necessary to bring their dog back home where he belonged. They created a Facebook page and hired a printing company to produce 6,000 lost dog flyers they plastered all over the city. Thanks to the flyers Tyron was found and returned home.

On Jan. 31st, Tyron was accidentally left outside the gate, but the loyal dog waited on the sidewalk for his owner to come get him. As the dog waited for Pablo or the gate to open, a fifteen-year-old boy walking by saw the pet and knew he was lost. The teenager sat next to the dog for an hour waiting for someone to come by looking for the pet, and when no one did, the good Samaritan called his father, told him about the lost dog and asked to be picked up long with the dog.

For 24 days the teenager and his father, named Fernando, took care of Tayron. They walked him four times a day, bought him a new leash and even allowed him on their beds. All this time, the rescuers hoped to eventually reunite the dog with his owner.

The news came to the family unexpectedly. In January 2016, Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) picked up the dog as a stray and after scanning him for a microchip, one was found. Thanks to it, MCASAC contacted Alicia via email to let her know her dog was alive and well.

As soon as the pet owners learned the good news they made plans to reunite with the dog. On February 1, 2016, Alicia flew back to Texas and embraced her beloved pooch.

In a video posted on YouTube, the pet owner says there were tears of joy when the family learned Corey was alive. New pet clothes and even a celebratory cake were bought for the happy reunion.

Even though Corey spent months away from his loved ones, the bond between him and his owners is still intact.

For early commuters, the sight of two troopers running after a little dog was something out of the ordinary, but everyone involved was relieved once the pooch was rescued.

According to 13 News Now, Pinta was first seen on I-64 Eastbound in Hampton at LaSalle Ave. Rescuers at first chased the dog on their vehicles, but once they reached I-664 the chase was done on foot.

“He didn’t want to stop for us,” said Trooper Hagwood. “He kept going around in circles, going the wrong direction on the interstate, running between cars.”

The dog was corralled on the side of the road and picked up by one of the troopers. Thanks to the ID tags the dog was wearing, Pinta was identified and reunited with his owner Jeffrey Corbin.

Mr. Corbin was very glad to have Pinta back in his arms
