If you own a pet, you know the incredible sacrifices you’re willing to make in order to save them in a dangerous situation. You love your pet so much that you’d do just about anything within your power for them.

Lady the dog found herself in quite a bit of trouble when she was playing outside near some thin ice. Suddenly, the ice broke and she fell through. She was struggling for her life in freezing-cold water when her owner came to the rescue. Then the unthinkable happened…they fell through, too.

Thankfully everyone came out alive and well in this situation. I bet that owner is going to keep a more watchful eye on Lady from now on. Hopefully this doesn’t happen again!

College Students Heard Whimpering, But Had No Idea What Was Hiding On Campus

Hope For Paws was recently called to a campus where students spotted a homeless Chihuahua hiding in a field. They thought she might have given birth to puppies and knew she needed help ASAP.

Thankfully, Eldad Hagar quickly showed up on the scene, with help and a cheeseburger in hand.

The small family was hiding in a trench, and was able to be cornered without too much stress.

Unfortunately, one of the puppies was in severe pain. The little girl, Ivy, had severe hydrocephalus (which is fluid in the brain). They had to put her down to let her be at peace.

The mother and two remaining puppies were cleaned up and given a clean bill of health. All of them are currently available for adoption, so if you’re interested in giving one a home, please visit Doggies 911 Rescue.

This Army Man With PTSD Found His New Best Friend, But His Story Is Just As Rough

Retired veteran Chad Flemming served two tours of duty in Iraq where, like many military vets, he unfortunately suffered both physical and emotional wounds. Anxiety and PTSD followed him home along with his injured leg.

The stress can sometimes feel overwhelming for individuals in his circumstance, but recently he was happy to find someone who really understood his pain. His new best friend helps him feel more comfortable and at ease, and Flemming returns the favor.

Mikko, a shy pit bull mix, took some time to warm up to his new human friend.

The poor thing was rescued one day before he was scheduled to be euthanized and it was clear he’d previously lived a sad, neglected life.

But after just a few days together, both the pup and man knew they’d found a true companion:

Clearly, these two were meant to be part of each other’s lives. It’s amazing to watch someone’s life turn around with just a little extra love — and this time it happened twice.

This Beagle Was Set To Be Put Down — Until An Unlikely Group Came To His Rescue

Cub scouts have a rich history in our country. They get badges for completing certain tasks that help them grow to be better men in the world. The boys learn how to tie certain knots, how to make a fire with just a couple of sticks and friction…and we’re all familiar with the upstanding scout who helps an elderly woman cross the street.

While these scouts may not earn a badge for this act of kindness, they definitely learned a valuable lesson. This beagle was about to be put down until this troop built him a new pair of legs.

The ingenuity they showed by building those little wheel-legs is pretty impressive! The generosity of these young boy shows that America’s future is bright and we have a lot to look forward to.

Once They Took This Pup Out Of The Concrete Cage She Was Living In…She Lit Up

Theia, a young dog, was confined to a dirty, concrete cage in Romania for most of her life. She was denied a proper diet, and was covered in fleas and ticks when rescuers found her at a city pound. When Howl Of A Dog got to her, the poor girl’s organs were failing due to malnutrition, and she was losing the will to live…

But the second she could see what life was like beyond confinement…

She knew she was ready to fight her way back to life.

While she is leagues ahead of where she was in the beginning, Theia still has a long road to recovery, even months after her initial rescue. She put on weight very quickly, but needs more extended treatments for her liver, skin conditions, and other complications that come with such neglect.

He Was Paddle Boarding When He Discovered Something Heartbreaking Swept Out To Sea

A small area of rocks far out in the sea off the coast of Kent, Australia, is not where any small pup should be, but that’s exactly what this paddle boarder found when he was making his way through the waters.

The tiny dude was clearly terrified and skittish when his rescuer first arrived. Thankfully, he was able to calm the cutie down and secure him onto the small board for a trip back to land, where hopefully his humans were waiting to retrieve him.

It’s heartbreaking to think what might have happened if the boarder had decided to head out just a few minutes later that day, but thank goodness he beat the rising tide and rescued this sweet boy.

When a sinkhole formed near a housing unit’s steps in Russia, the city came by to patch it up. They filled the hole with sand and laid brick on top. Sounds fine, right? Everyone’s just doing their job.

But after the project was finished, residents heard something that made their hearts sink. From underneath the freshly laid bricks came a faint barking noise. When the city refused to assist them after a few days, they decided to take matters into their own hands and get to the demolition themselves. They only hoped that it wasn’t too late…

Looking out his window, this man saw a pack of stray dogs roaming the streets. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, until he saw something strange. One of the dogs had his head stuck in something that could kill him.

These Dogs Were Skeletons When Rescuers Came, But They Learned How To Smile Again

Not too long ago, the Chicago Police Department found two very skinny dogs in an abandoned building. Luckily, after the force removed them from their horrid home, they called the Trio Animal Foundation and asked for help getting them to an emergency room.

Here they are with the group of police who found them.

Emmy weighed just over 20 pounds, and was too weak to walk, or even stand, so she took a seat on Oscar. Sadly, he wasn’t in any better shape.

They were severely anemic, with high white blood cell counts, and were unbelievably dehydrated. This is what happens when someone enters starvation mode.

The hospital started them on IV fluids, in addition to slowly feeding them a diet consisting of many small, high-fat meals. Too much food at once makes organ failure a distinct possibility.

Soon enough, these pups were no longer bags of bones, but actual, warm-blooded canines.

Emmy even found her forever home while she was bouncing back from this tragedy…

One of her vet techs, Anthony, had formed quite a bond with the spunky fighter. He used to carry her around on his shoulders when she didn’t want him to leave her side and was too weak to walk around.

When Trio came to pick her up from the hospital, Anthony teared up, knowing that he couldn’t possibly give up this amazing bond. He took her home that day!

Oscar is healthy as can be, too…

And he’s ready to be adopted! He’ll need a home that will keep up with all of the hard work he’s put into training, as he has some residual trust issues that he needs to work through. Who can blame him? This tragedy is enough to make any pooch skeptical and cautious of humans. But generally, he’s a happy, well-behaved dog who simply needs a loving home.

They Heard Strange Noises Coming From A Dumpster And Found Something Tragic

The sad reality is that animals are abused almost every single day. It’s really painful to think about. We as humans have a responsibility to make sure that these vulnerable animals are taken care of, but some heartless people just don’t seem to understand that abusing them is completely unacceptable.

That’s why it’s so depressing that this mother dog and her puppies were recently thrown in the garbage and left for dead.

People heard strange noises coming from a nearby trash site, so they contacted the police.

There, they found a mother dog panicking outside the trash…one of her babies had fallen in, but the others were found in a nearby shed.

The police intervened, rescued the pups, and took them to a local shelter.

By the next day, this puppy family was safe and sound.

Mom was finally able to nurse her babies!

They Went Into A Ravine To Save A Dog, But She Was On A Rescue Mission Of Her Own

When Animal Control in Battle Creek, Michigan, was called to the ravine behind a Home Depot, they expected to find the small dog they had received the call about. But after climbing down the steep grass, officer Michelle Smith discovered the dog wasn’t alone.

Apparently the sweet pup was on a rescue mission of her own. A teeny-tiny kitten was curled up with her, nursing from her new adopted mommy. The cute pair will turn your heart into a mushy pile of love.

There’s already so much love between this little family. Hopefully the cuties stay together and safe from harm from now on.

This Poor Dog Was Living Under A Car For 7 Months…Until This Amazing Rescue

For seven months, this dog was too scared and sick to let anyone do more than leave some food out for him. He hid under porches and cars, all the while suffering from mange, high fever, a severe flea infestation, and ticks.

Eldad Hagar from Hope For Paws has spent countless hours rescuing dogs in need from the streets of Los Angeles. Each rescue is incredibly heartwarming, but this recent rescue of two poodles takes “heartwarming” to an entirely new level.

These two poodles were stranded in the sewer for weeks, trying to survive. Thankfully, Hope For Paws got a call and hurried to rescue them…

It’s incredible to see to creatures love each other so much. Thank goodness Eldad got to these dogs before it was too late!
