He found it at Tin Can Town, an animal rescue that helps local dogs and cats. “She was very thin and the boy told us he didn’t have enough money for food for her,” Stöckigt who works at a rescue organization told The Dodo. “We told him we would do our best to save her life, and find her a new loving home that can take care of her. We thanked him for bringing her to us for help.”

They named the doggie Nanuk and put her on a drip. It turned out that the pooch had parvo virus, which can be lethal if untreated. If she wasn’t going to eat, there would be no hope for her.

The rescuers would cheer her up with the visits from foster kitties and, on the sixth day, Nanuk got better.

“I think it is a combination of the kittens, having one of us by her side the whole time giving her love and encouragement…” Stöckigt said. The rescuers are on the look for a loving forever home for Nanuk.

So when this woman’s St. Bernard was to be put down, she made her one last wish come true. Alyson Paige’s dog, a St. Bernard named Sophia, was dying due to terminal bone cancer. She was about to be put down, but before that, Alyson gave Sophia a fun time playing in the snow. She knew how much Sophia loves to play in the snow. Watch the video below for the full story.

Ol Boy was in horrific shape, unable to walk or hardly even move and covered in ticks. When Thomas Neil Rodriguez found out that his dog had less than a few months left to live, he and his fiancée wanted to make the most of the time they had with Poh.  So they embarked on an excellent adventure across the US so their buddy could have a chance to swim in the Pacific Ocean.

“It was a great trip,” Rodriguez told ABC News. “I got to spend seven weeks with Poh. At first, I did not think he’d make it two weeks, but he did.”

He adopted Poh from a shelter in 1999, when the pup was only eight weeks old.  Fifteen is a long life for most dogs, but knowing that the end is near is always hard to fathom.

“I would say sometime in February he started to get sicker.  I travel quite a bit but we came back from one trip and he was doing really bad[ly],” Rodriguez said.

“I’m unsure of how long [he will live]. Doctors are unsure. My assumption is that I don’t have very long with him and that’s what prompted the trips.”

Beginning in March, the family began their journey from Queens, NY and visited 35 major cities, covering about 12,000 miles.

“I initially wanted to get him to the Pacific Ocean,” Rodriguez said.  “I have always wanted him to swim.”

“He loved it, it was so healing for him. It was like he was five years younger. He was walking with a lot of energy.”

When Poh was too tired or sore to walk, he enjoyed the sights, sounds, and smells from his cushy wagon.

“We even stopped by Walter White’s house in New Mexico,” Rodriguez said. “We went to ‘The Goonies’ house in Oregon. There was some dog parks to go to. In Austin we went to a great dog park where he actually swam.”

The devoted dog owners created an Instagram account just to catalogue Poh’s journey.

“My life is kind of hectic,” Rodriguez said. “I’m always traveling, but Poh is my home, my child. I think this resonated with a lot of dog owners. They wish they could do stuff like this with their dog and spend these moments, but sometimes life gets in the way.

“I am super blessed that I have actually gotten to do this.  People think I take care of Poh, but Poh takes care of me.”

When a man named James Wathern was admitted to the hospital after his health declined rapidly, the compassionate staff, deciding to ignore the facility’s no-pets policy, did some research to track down their patient’s beloved dog, an elderly Chihuahua named Bubba.

The generous people at the Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter ultimately coordinated the reunion, and it was clearly an emotional moment for everyone involved.

Bubba excitedly climbed on top of his owner, tail wagging away, and James’ face immediately lit up. It’s so clear that both missed each other dearly. Such a beautiful moment to witness.

Such a sweet, sincere friendship between those two! What’s even better than the amazing moment they shared in the clip is the fact that the pair is reportedly doing great – both are eating regularly and steadily improving. Friendship and love can sometimes be the best medicine.

The hunter wanted to place a duck decoy in the lake but had no clue that entering the muddy waters would put his life at risk. Submerged in the  lake, the man’s legs got trapped in the heavy mud. He couldn’t free his legs and had to figure out a way to call for help.

The hunter’s dog patiently waited for his master’s return to shore, but with each passing minute the dog grew worried. Luckily for the hunter, he had his cell phone with him and  was able to call authorities.

When rescuers arrived, they realized  they too would get stuck in the mud if they tried to reach the man, but the dog was the only one able to swim without getting stuck. Rescuers tied a rope to the pet’s harness and had him reach his owner, that’s how the dog became the hunter’s only life line.

Once the dog reached his owner, the hunter untied the rope, secured it to his body and waited for a rescuer to reach him. The rescuer was also tied to the rope and with the help of others back on safe land, the trapped hunter was pulled from the mud.

If it wasn’t for the heroic dog, the hunter would have spent more time in the frigid waters while rescuers devised a plan to reach him without getting themselves trapped in the mud too.

You do exactly what this group of animal-loving volunteers did.

Butch the dog was found roaming the streets of Pinson, Alabama, after spending two years on the streets. Butch had to eat scraps from garbage cans to survive until he was found a week before Thanksgiving.

He was then turned in to a local Boston Terrier Rescue Shelter. It was soon discovered that his trachea was leaking, his heart was in bad shape, and he had very little lung capacity. Butch had to be euthanized.

After learning his fate, the girls who found Butch decided to help him have the most memorable time of his life before he would be put to sleep. To start, they took Butch to meet Santa “Paws” for an early Christmas.

Then he met the local fire department and lived the dream as a firehouse dog.

Finally, he went to the park for an awesome going away party.

He met lots of new friends…

…received tons of treats…

… and even a few presents!

Not long after the party, Butch silently passed away at the home of the girls on Saturday after Thanksgiving.

When asked why the girls did so much for Butch, a dog they barely knew, what they said broke my heart. “Before he goes, I want him to look into my eyes, and I want to look into his eyes, and I want to whisper, ‘I love you.'”

Maybe these people did this for Butch because they were in the holiday spirit. Maybe they just love dogs. Either way, what these girls did for Butch in his final days brought more than a tear to my eye. Bravo girls, and may you rest in peace, Butch.
