The pup struck by a motorist on the George Washington Bridge, which spans the Hudson River between New York and New Jersey, was rescued by two caring cops: Port Authority officers Fred Corrubia and Jonathan Harder.

The pair were monitoring bridge activity when they were notified of an injured dog on the road. The Daily News reported the officers retrieved the 6-month-old pup with the prominent, pointy ears and shuttled him to the Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus, NJ, according to Port Authority spokesman Joseph Pentangelo.

Hours later, the dog’s owner, Desiree Justin, contacted the Port Authority after hearing her dog, whose name is Ronin, was spotted on the bridge.

Ronin had slipped his collar during a walk.

Officers were pleased to report that Ronin would be fine, though he did suffer injuries to his right leg and paw.

“They said he didn’t make a peep the whole time they rescued him, that he was so tough,” Justin told NBC News. “And when he saw me, he started squealing and I started crying.”

According to WKOW, police officers were called to the wildlife area after a group of people found a camping bag moving and tossing on the ground. Upon opening the bag, the concerned citizens found a malnourished elderly black lab wrapped in a blanket and with had multiple head wounds.

The dog was rushed to a veterinarian and a total of 19 stitches were needed to close the deep lesions on her head. Veterinarians said even though Misty had sustained unimaginable abuse, she would recover. Today, she is alive and thriving.

When news broke about the injured pet, 56-year-old Terri Lynn Benson came forward and identified herself as the dog’s owner.

Benson told police the night before Misty was found injure in the woods she got out and came back home “acting goofy.” She was throwing up, having uncontrollable bowel movements and seizures. Not knowing what to do the woman took the dog for a ride.

“I thought she was dead,” Benson told police. “I didn’t have any money to do anything, my other half did call [Dr. Michael] Cooper about putting her down.”

The pet owner admitted disposing of the dog’s body in the woods after she believed Misty died in the car. However, authorities questioned Benson about the head injuries and she confessed using a hammer to put an end to her suffering pet.

Fifty dollars would have been the cost to humanly euthanize Misty, but instead her owner placed a blanket over her head and hit her with a hammer multiple times.

Benson has been charged with mistreatment of animals, disorderly conduct use of dangerous weapon and animal abandonment. She is scheduled to appear in court next month to face her punishment.

The dog is under the care of Columbia County Humane Society and has made a remarkable recovery. People across the nation have shown their support by donating towards her care and sending gifts. The shelter has also received more than 50 requests to adopt the elderly dog. However, there are other health issues that need to be cleared before she could move into a forever home.

Immediately firefighters radio back and asked the operator where they could take the pet. The dispatcher contacted Animal Control and arranged for Pancho Cavero Pet Hospital to receive the injured dog. Firefighters used a cardboard box as a stretcher, transported the pet to the pet clinic and saved his life.

“We save lives,” said firefighter Iván Castillo. “It doesn’t matter if they are human or animal lives, we are here to save them.

Once the dog arrived at the hospital, veterinarians gave the dog fluids and determined he suffered from a broken leg. The medical team wanted to stabilize the pet first before doing extensive tests and determine any other injuries.

Firefighter Ivan J. Huaman P later posted pictures of the rescue on his Facebook wall and thanked all those involved for working together to save the dog’s life.

On July 31, 2015, Best and his dog were working near the Michell River, about 186 miles northwest of Cairns. Best is a pig hunter and lives a simple life with little luxuries, he doesn’t even own a car. On that day, his four-legged best friend was working with him and chased a pig too close to the edge of the water. There, a crocodile jumped, attacked the dog, dragged him into the water and left him severely injured.

Choco’s life miraculously did not come to an end then, but the crocodile bit one of his rear legs breaking it, and left several puncture wounds along the back end of the dog’s body.

With no car, Best carried his friend for two days until hitching a ride to the closest veterinarian in Mareeba.

The dog needed surgery to reconstruct his leg and needs to rest for several months to allow the bones to heal properly.

When area animal lovers learned about the crocodile attack on the dog, they wanted to help. They’ve sent many donations to the veterinary hospital were Choco was cared for.

Dr. Ethan Maloney told The Cairns Post that his two clinics are overwhelmed with the amount of public generosity they’ve received.

“We had calls from all over Australia across our two clinics,” Dr. Maloney said.

Choco is expected to make a full recovery as long as he rests and lets his leg heal. He is an active dog and veterinarians have asked Best not to take his dog hunting for at least several months.

Best and his dog plan to stay with a friend in Dimbulah for a while before returning to their home in the bush. The pet owner wants to get a local job in to help pay for food and shelter.

After being spotted by a motorist lying in a swamp in Laplace, Louisiana, a dog was rescued by a Louisiana State Trooper and an employee of Cajun Pride Swamp Tours. Now, the pair are setting a GoFundMe page for the dog, hoping to be able to get him the medical attention he needs.

Both Captain Brandon from the swamp tours and the trooper slogged through a half-a-mile of marshy swamp just to get to the dog.  When they finally got close enough, it was clear that the dog had a leg injury, but otherwise seemed to be alright and actually thankful for the help.

According to the GoFundMe page set up for him, he was then taken to a local animal shelter for treatment.  He is set today to be transferred to a facility better equipped to handle his injury and other medical needs.  The hope is to eventually get him to the Jefferson APCA, where he will hopefully find a good forever home.

The fundraiser page is asking for $2,500 to help cover medical expenses.  So far, about $1,900 of the goal has been reached.  Please, if you are able, please consider donating to this very worthy cause.
