And can you imagine how frightening it must be for a puppy to wake up from surgery?

That’s why when a shelter puppy woke up very scared from her surgery, a vet immediately calmed her down and comforted her by rocking her like a baby.

The puppy named Baby Meesha was coming off from her anesthesia and she was very scared because of how weird her body felt. A surgical assistant named Dennis Moses took action by taking her into the quiet hallway, hugging her tight, and rocking her like a baby to comfort her. One of the volunteers happened to catch the sweet moment on video. Check it out!

Back in October, Landon was struck by a vehicle and now his pelvis is fractured in eight places, one of his legs are broken, his tailbone is injured, and his sciatic nerve is badly damaged.  He can hardly stand, let alone walk.

He is at the Eastern Carolina Veterinary Orthopedic ICU in Wilmington, South Carolina.  They refuse to perform surgery until a $1,000 payment is made.

Wooly was abandoned over a year ago in Dallas, TX, and was finally captured in November of this year. He was frozen with fear and in absolutely horrific shape: cuts and wounds all over his body and face, a missing front foot and an injured back leg that he was forced to drag behind him.   Neighbors to the area he was found in told us that he had a bear claw trap caught on his foot for weeks until it finally fell off, together with the foot.

What we didn’t know is how extensive his injuries were until he was brought in for medical treatment. Due to the massive amounts of open wounds on his body, he was shaved down and it became evident that Wooly had been fighting for his life since the day he was abandoned. His face is a map of scars; his body shows the trauma he endured for over a year. Due to the bear claw trap attached to his foot, Wooly was never able to fight back when he was attacked by other dogs, wild animals and humans who meant him harm.

Thanks to the amazing work of our Dallas partners, Wooly finally knew what it was like to be safe. He is now in foster in NY and has continued making the progress he started while in foster in TX. But it will be a long road to recovery.

Wooly is still fearful and he is still in pain, but he is improving daily. Every day he becomes a little braver, every day he manages to test his limits just a little bit more. We are behind Wooly every step of the way, no matter how long it takes.

Now Wooly needs your help. His leg is infected and he reinjures his stump daily. He is scheduled for amputation surgery this week.

He will only know kindness and compassion, his worst days are behind him and it’s up to us to make up for lost time. Bella is not even two years old, and both of her back knees are blown out.  Her owner loves her to bits, and is distraught knowing that her baby will never be able to walk again or not be in pain without surgery.  Every dollar adds up – please help if you can.

Shannon Box adopted Bella when she was three months old, and the two have been bonded like Gorilla glue ever since.

Bella blew out one knee slipping on wet grass, and the other when she slipped on a blanket that fell on the floor.  She is a very happy-go-lucky dog, so not being able to romp about is frustrating.

Shannon does have insurance for Bella, but the policy will not cover this surgery, and she does not have enough money to pay for it all herself.  She hates to have to ask complete strangers for help, but has nowhere to turn.

This is an especially difficult time for both Shannon and Bella, as Bella’s big brother just died of cancer two months ago.

All better: Murphy the German Shepherd underwent an emergency operation after swallowing SIX golf balls

A dog had to have a lifesaving operation after it was discovered he had swallowed six golf balls.

Owner David Larson thought German shepherd Murphy had become sick after eating a bone.

But vets spotted “foreign bodies” in the seven-year old rescue dog’s stomach.

David, a joiner, said: “I couldn’t believe it.

“I’ve only had him for 18 months and he has never come into contact with golf balls during that time so they must have been lodged inside him for a long time.”

Murphy is now making a full recovery at home.

David, from Jarrow, on Tyneside, said: “Having the golf balls inside him must have affected him because I’ve noticed since the operation he is much brighter and much more playful,” he added.

“He was a bit down before and he was maybe having problems. He is very happy and very playful.

“He has made an excellent recovery since the operation ­and I’m going to make sure he is never given bones or allowed anywhere near a golf course in future.”

The surgery was carried out by experts at Westway Veterinary Group hospital in West Road in Newcastle.

Vet Mandy Ball said: “Murphy had been vomiting, had a very painful abdomen and was dehydrated.

“We stabilised him with a drip, pain killers and antibiotics before going ahead with surgery the next morning.
“His condition was life-threatening.

“We gave him a general anaesthetic and cut into his stomach to remove the six golf balls.

Mandy is warning owners not to let their dogs play with golf balls during the summer.

She said: “Owners need to watch what their dogs get up to when out and about. They may even need to put a basket muzzle on their dog when off lead if they are likely to swallow things like balls and stones.

“Dogs can become very ill quickly as they can obstruct the stomach and intestines.”

A bladder stone is an accumulation of chemicals produced by the body.

It was the biggest stone Dr. Matt has ever seen, but the surgery was successful!
