Bama is a 10-year-old Lab. He is nearly blind, but his owner loves him all the same. Bama is used to wandering around his neighborhood, unattended, to visit neighbors. His owner lets him. Usually, he doesn’t get into much trouble — but this time, he fell 40 feet into an uncovered well.

One of the neighbors was working on the well when Bama accidentally slipped inside. He didn’t even see the hole in the ground. But luckily, the dog was alive after the fall.

Now, it was up to rescuers to get him out unharmed. Firefighters and animal control arrived to the scene and spent three hours trying to get him out…

The poor pup likely didn’t see where he was going.

Firefighters and rescue crews arrived on the scene, and spent three hours trying to get Bama to safety above ground.

It was a tricky matter: Oxygen levels inside the well had to be regulated constantly, and getting the ropes around the elderly dog wasn’t easy.

But eventually, Bama was lifted out of the hole, and went home safe and sound. The first thing his owner did? Gave him a hug!

This pup went blind at six months old.  Perhaps he has such a vibrant life because he was able to adapt to his disability from such a young age.  He’s an absolute natural in the water, and he charms everyone he meets.

While on a walk with his owner James Densmore, the Lhasa apso mix started barking and spinning in circles. As it turns out, he was acting up in response to a natural gas leak, which Densmore also caught a whiff of. However, the pooch took it a step further by standing in the exact spot where the gas leak was coming from.

The dog’s incredible instincts are reminiscent to other dogs around the country who have saved their owners from what could’ve been a devastating outcome. For example, it’s hard not to be in awe of the pooch in Louisiana who woke her elderly owner out of her sleep to warn her about a house fire. Same goes for the dog in Indiana who alerted his owners of a similar situation.

Soon after Job’s sniffing success, a utility company came to fix the gas leak.

“We are proud of him every day, but specifically that day,” Densmore told WISN 12 News of his rescue pooch. (And we don’t blame him!)

Heidi is a 14-year-old Jack Russell terrier. She’s also blind and deaf, and she needs constant attention. Her loving owner, Mike, says that she’s very feeble. So when she disappeared on a walk one day, he was convinced that she was as good as dead.

He takes her on daily walks on a trail, where he takes her leash off to let her wander and sniff around. He keeps a close eye on her, even if he knows that she wouldn’t get very far. But somehow this time, she managed to slip away from him, and into the shrubbery of the hillside. Mike says that it only took three minutes for her to disappear, and after he searched for days with no result, he knew she was dead.

But 14 days after her disappearance, Mike received a phone call that he says nearly “gave him a heart attack.” Some crews were working on the highway when they found the pup — miraculously alive — where they were supposed to dig, a full mile away from where Mike had lost her. The elderly and disabled dog survived those 14 days with no food or water, and even a big storm in the area.

Now she’s happily reunited with her owner — and hopefully she won’t get lost again!

The crazy part — this is not the first time Yolanda has called 911 for her owner. Last year she had to do the same after Maria fell in the house and got knocked unconscious. Someone get this dog a medal!

The amazing part? Glenn, the Jack Russell Terrier, is blind. Buzz, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, acts as his guide dog.

The two, who are naturally inseparable, are currently being fostered by Stray Aid in Coxhoe, Durham.

“They are inseparable,” Hannah Critchlow told ABC News. “They instantly had a bond when they came in, so we kept them together. Whenever they’re separated they start crying and barking for each other.”

The pair were rescued from a sea tunnel in Hartlepool last month and are currently being cared for by the Stray Aid rescue centre in Coxhoe, County Durham.

Buzz helps Glenn find his bed and food, even pushing him toward the right bowl if he’s eating from the wrong one, the Daily Mail quoted Stay Aid supervisor Diane Humphrey as saying.

The centre has said it will only consider rehousing the best friends together.

Temperatures had plunged well below zero when Madera wandered away from her Ester, Alaska home early in February.  Given her age and blindness, chances of finding her alive were considerably low.  But partly in thanks to another dog, Madera was found and is now safe at home.

On February 6th, Ed Davis’ wife let Madera out to relieve herself.  When it’s bitterly cold, she doesn’t dawdle, but for some reason, on this negative 40-degree night, Madera ambled away.  An autoimmune disease caused her to become blind, so no one would imagine she’d go far.

Davis was working at his job on a pump station for the trans-Alaska oil pipeline when she went missing, and had very little hope of finding her when he returned home on the 19th.

“My best hope was to walk those trails and look for a track that might be hers,” he told the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. “My best hope was to find a frozen dog.”

Davis doesn’t believe she’d have ever been found alive had it not been for Constantine Khrulev, who had been out riding trails on his fat bike, which is designed for rugged terrain like snow. He was accompanied by his own dog, who was wearing a bell.

Madera heard the bell, and whined as the dog trotted past her.  Khrulev in turn heard her, and ventured into the woods.  He discovered the 11-year-old Labrador seeking shelter beneath a tree.  She was 100 yards off the trail, half a mile from home.

“She was not going to be found accidentally,” Davis said.

Khrulev carried Madera to one of the Davises’ neighbor’s homes.  Though she had lost about 14 pounds, she was in surprisingly good health.  She will now be recovering under the watchful eye of her family in the warmth of her home.

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue of Atlanta, Georgia rescued Denny and Drummond together back in November of 2014. Both dogs, believed to be cocker spaniel mixes, had shown signs of serious neglect and abuse, and due to an unchecked eye and skin infection, Denny was left almost totally blind.

Even in the horrific state these two were in when picked up, they were still as sweet as a dog could ever be.  One of the founding members of Angles Among Us, Karen Wallace, picked up the pair from a vet so they brought to their shelter.  Even covered in sores and rashes, under-fed and very, very scared, they were just so friemdly, and Wallace couldn’t get over how affectionate the two still were.

Over time, and with lots of love and medical attention the two were getting much better health wise.  However, it was noticed that Drummond pretty much refused to leave his best friend Denny’s side.  You couldn’t pry the two apart with a crowbar.

At first, it just seemed like a strong bond of kinship had developed between the two because of their similar backgrounds.  Upon closer inspection, it turned out Drummond somehow knew that Denny was suffering badly from cataracts and an eye infection, leaving him almost totally blind.  Drummond’s eyesight wasn’t exactly the best either, but it was enough to get the around safety, and Denny became a seeing-eye-dog

Lance White, CEO of Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, is amazed at how much the dogs go out of their way to make sure the other is alright.  He said, “(Drummond is) younger and he’s really looking out for the older one.  We just feel like they’re family. I feel like they’re family.”

It’s pretty much a given that if anyone wants to adopt either of these guys, they come as a pair.  According to White, it’s a mandatory thing that they remain together after adoption.
