“We started working with Project Street Dog Thailand back in May,” Cindy Szczudlo, senior manager of rescue services at North Shore Animal League America, told The Dodo. “Beautiful little Gidget was one of our recent rescues who we brought in a couple weeks ago.”

Who knows what kind of life she had, but as a street dog, it likely wasn’t a very pleasant one.  However, she’s absolutely full of joy now, and loves meeting new people and animals. “She’s so affectionate, sweet and friendly,” Szczudlo said. “She loved playing with the cats in my office. She just has an amazing personality.” Beth Stern, who works with North Shore, is friends with NPH and Burtka, so when they mentioned to her that they were looking to adopt, she had just the pup in mind.

The guys and their six-year-old twins, Harper and Gideon, look like they’re already madly in love with this lil chica.

Though this has nothing to do with dogs, I came across a photo on Burtka’s Instagram page of his family on Halloween, and one of his followers said they had been looking forward to seeing this photo all month – the family must really go all out for Halloween.  So I did a couple of searches and found the rest of their costumes, and man are they adorable!  Hopefully next year Gidget will be included.  I can’t wait to see what they do!

Life with the volunteers turned him around, of course. They have found that like most doggies he loves his cuddles and his walks. Now 10 years old, he is a mostly quiet, older dog with a placid demeanor.

So imagine everyone’s delight when Dreadlock was finally adopted to see his jovial, energetic reaction! He is now on his way to a forever home in the U.K.

You may have heard the phrase, “an elephant never forgets,” and science is starting to prove that is a true statement.  Anyone that’s ever been separated from their furry loved ones for any length of time knows that phrase holds true for dogs, too.  Some of them seem to be almost beside themselves with happiness that they are finally home with the family.  The whine and cry, and act like giant babies.  And that is exactly why we love them so much.

A dog loves unconditionally.  You should do the same for your dog.  It’s what they deserve.

The two-year-old dog was found wandering the streets with both of his eyes so badly damaged, they were propping out of his head.  He had been picked up by someone, and brought to emergency animal medical technicians with the Arizona Humane Society, and he was rushed into surgery.

They were able to save Ashton, but not his eye, leaving him blind.  One of the eyes, according to surgeons, had been damaged in that way for quite some time, and the other was a bit more recent.  No matter what, both had to be removed, which would make finding a forever home a bit more difficult.

Medical staff has been helping Ashton adapt to life as a blind dog, and his new forever family will have to have saint-like patience with him as he adapts, but his new family is confident that they can provide for him a great place to live, and all of the love and understanding that he’ll need to have a happy life.

Even though things did not at all start off well in life for Ashton, he is described as full of pep and life, and a very, very sweet dog.  His new family promises to do whatever they have to make Ashton’s life a really great one from here on out.

According to KHON2 News, the homeless dogs were living inside a trash filled van with no clean space to rest or eat. Every surface of the vehicle and the surrounded area was covered with garbage, urine and feces.

The pets did not have a proper place to call home but they did have owners who shared the same squalid living conditions. Representatives from the animal welfare organization worked with the owners and helped them understand the unsanitary surroundings were not ideal for them or their pets. Thanks to the friendly support rescuers showed the dogs were surrender.

The Chihuahuas suffered from different skin ailments like mange and were infested with fleas and ticks. The Humane Society offered treated them and after receiving a clean bill of health they were all made available for adoption.

Today all dogs have found loving forever homes.

When Needy was brought into the Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT), all he had to his name was a ratty old teddy bear he came in with.  When his bear was taken away because it was a health hazard, it would’ve seemed as if he lost everything.  However, the great people at the ACCT have given Needy so much more.

No one working at the ACCT knows why this sweet little dog was given up.  He’s so kind and gentle and everyone there just loves him.

“He is very loved at the shelter by all his volunteer friends and was making everyone he met fall in love with him,” said Kimberly Cary.  Cary is a volunteer with rescue group Chester County Dog Tails.  “The volunteers say he is shy but he warms up to you and loves resting his head on your shoulders and is very loving and playful!”

Even though Needy couldn’t keep his teddy bear because there are policies in place to safeguard the health of the dogs in the ACCT shelter, he didn’t lose everything.  The wonderful people there got Needy placed with Diamonds in the Ruff Rescue.

Going to Diamonds in the Rough is a great step towards finding a forever home for Needy.  They decided to take him in, and have started calling him Fozzie Bear.  Diamonds in the Rough brought him in after one of their long-time rescue dogs called Kermit (Fozzie Bear is Kermit the Frog’s best friend on the Muppet’s Show.)

Not only did Diamonds in the Ruff rescue Fozzie, but they’ve also made up for the lost teddy bear as well.  After they brought him out of ACCT, they put the call out asking for more teddy bears for him.  The community responded big.  They made sure he got a teddy bear to call his own, and he is one of the most grateful dogs the staff has ever met.

Glenn is getting on in years, and has become totally blind.  He now totally relies on Buzz to get by day to day, and because of this, they are a package deal.

They were rescued out of a sea tunnel in Hartlepool, England.  They were then taken to Stray Aid.  They’re an animal shelter not far from the point they were rescued.

It was during a medical work up that Glenn’s blindness was discovered.  They also found out that the two absolutely refuse to be apart from each other.  Staff had initially tried, but it was ultimately found to be impossible.

The shelter is also refusing to separate them.  If people are inquiring about adoptions should know, they are 100% a package deal.  No ifs, ands or buts about it.  They go together, or not at all.

Stray Aid Center Manager John Bielby said, “If one of them is taken out, the other will become distressed and start to cry.  They have to be kept together, they don’t like be being separated.”

Glenn and Buzz truly do have a special and unique relationship.  Buzz usually will start off a bit ahead of Glenn as they go for a walk, or just get from place to place.  He even uses a bit of vocalization to signal feeding time, and even let’s Glenn finish off his meal for him.  Buzz takes care of his buddy just the same way a dog does for a person.

It isn’t really known how long they’ve been together, or even how long either has been on the street.  It’s also unknown if Buzz has had seeing eye dog training.  What is known is Buzz and Glenn have an amazing relationship, and will need a forever home for two.

The dog’s new name will be Seoul, which is a city in South Korea.  The little jindo has only ever known life in a kennel at the Humane Society of Southwest Washington (HSSW), where she was brought to from the farm.

The couple heard about the rescue while attending the HSSW auction.  They got to meet the dog, and realized that they were going to need to do a lot of research and consideration before deciding to adopt her.

The couple was very happy to be getting to take Seoul home.  The said that they spent the past two days getting things ready, and doing some necessities shopping.

We’ve been dog shopping the last two days,” she said.  They also picked out a Washington Huskies and Seattle Seahawks jerseys for her.

Staff at the HSSW said that right as they were leaving, Seoul did something she barely let anyone at the shelter do.  She seemed to be so happy to be on her way to a new home, that she actually let her new family members touch her.

“As I saw him, I just knew he was my puppy,” said Alex Goslow.

Raj is four years old, and life hasn’t always been very easy for him.  Estimates say that he had spent three years chained up in a Las Vegas, New Mexico yard.  He was living with two other dogs, but Raj was the only one to survive.  The other two dogs are believed to have been poisoned.

He had his story featured on popular website thedodo.com, and also in the UK.  For whatever reason, finding a forever home for Raj was taking forever.  Until recently that is.

“When I saw him and just the video and how he behaved and how happy he was despite any vision it seemed like really good fit,” said Raj’s new human mom Alex Goslow.  “The next day we decided to go to Animal Humane and we picked him up.”

Raj is settling in to his new home nicely.  He enjoys running free and unchained in the backyard, and when he’s not doing that, he really enjoys some cuddle time with his new humans.

“I think the world is a better place with Raj in it, so I am glad we could provide that for him,” she said.
