“When we first met Duffy, he was slumped on the floor of a dark and dingy room in a puppy mill. His fur was matted, and he was unable to walk.”

Fortunately Duffy was not suffering from any serious health problems. With just a little bit of health treatments, he was able to transform in just a couple of weeks. He was able to walk, run free, and wag his tail like never before. But things kept only getting better for sweet Duffy. Soon after the recovery he was adopted to his forever loving family.

Now Duffy is living a normal life, and everything keeps only getting better and better for him. I am just too happy to hear all this, and I truly hope that Duffy keeps on experiencing only good and beautiful things in life. It is really amazing to see such inspiring transformations, and to be able to see that there is still hope in this world. There are still people that care enough for animals, and their well being, all this is just so beautiful to witness and watch. Meet Deuce. After being born with just two legs, this playful pup was set to be euthanized. His original owners believed that there was something wrong with little Deuce. He was different. Sadly, Deuce would have never known what it was like to play with other dogs or to curl up and snuggle with his loving owner. Or the odd sensation of his leg twitching uncontrollably as his belly was rubbed. All because he was a little different.

Thankfully, the caring folks at the Evergreen Animal Protective League heard about little Deuce and decided that his fate was to be different. He would have a life…a family. They just needed to find the right person, with a special heart.

Meet Ken Rogers (no, not the gambler!) and his wife Melissa. These were just the special people that the rescue had been hoping for. So great was their heart for dogs that they instantly fell in love with Deuce, not seeing him as a pup missing two legs, but as a beautiful little dog missing a home.

For some the responsibility of raising a special needs puppy might have been too much, but this amazing couple had a secret weapon. Experience. See, Deuce wasn’t their first two-legged companion. Ten years prior, they had adopted KanDu who was also missing his front legs from birth.

So now, Deuce and the rest of the Rogers’ dogs enjoy a healthy, happy, normal life. As humans, there is a lot we can learn from Deuce and his owners. We’re all a little different…and that’s what makes us special.

But the dogs proved to be so much more than just a reminder of home. In fact, Dukes firmly believes he wouldn’t be alive today if weren’t for Rufus. Why? Read on…

On a February night a suicide bomber tried to get into Dukes’s barracks. But the three dogs began to bark and bite the bomber.

He blew himself up – saving the lives of the fifty soldiers in the barracks.

Sadly, Sasha was severely injured and had to be euthanized. She died defending the troops that had befriended her.

Rufus and Target survived, though they had to be left behind when Dukes returned to the States a month later.

“I was really worried. The fact that the next unit may come in and not want them there,” says Dukes.

While another soldier kept any eye on them, Dukes wrote a letter to a group called Hope For The Warriors. He explained to them that they owed his life to these dogs and wanted nothing more than to have them with him.

After $21,000 was raised on a Facebook page, the two dogs were brought over from Afghanistan. Watch the heartwarming reunion captured by the News Crew.

Hope for Paws, a Los Angeles based non-profit animal rescue organization, received a call from concerned neighbors about a German Shepherd dog who was trapped in the shallow L.A. river. The poor dog had no way to get out for miles and miles…he was totally trapped. Concerned residents in the neighborhood who noticed the situation fed the brave boy for weeks until they figured out how to handle the unique situation. It was difficult to access the dog with the 20 ft drop, and they had no way of lifting him to safety.

When Hope for Paws learned of the trapped dog, they immediately teamed up with the concerned neighbors to formulate a plan. With a ladder and makeshift contraption, they descended to help the dog, later named Biggie.

Biggie was initially reluctant to approach the rescuer, but soon he warmed up and remained calm as volunteers above pulled him to safety. Such an incredibly story of teamwork and genuine kindness for an animal who needed it. Watch Biggie’s story here!

Emma is a sweet little Chihuahua who was born with facial deformities including a cleft lip and various skull malformations. Overwhelmed by her condition, her original owners didn’t feel they could properly care for her, so she was given up for adoption at just a few hours old.

When her current owner got her, Emma needed extreme medical attention, and received 24 hour care while she gained her strength. Now, at 5 years-old, Emma is said to be a spirited, determined little girl with a big heart despite the obstacles she’s had to overcome.

One day, they received a call about a dog wandering in the Palmdale Desert. It seems that the poor thing has been dumped on this deserted area by a backyard breeder. When they found the dog, her fur was severely matted. They couldn’t even determine if the dog was a boy or a girl. She was in a horrible condition, but that didn’t stop her from wagging her tail when she saw them. It’s like she was so happy that somebody found her and rescued her.
