Sievers’ baby is his dog, Manse Jolly.

He told reporters he doesn’t mind sleeping outdoors, but worries about the upcoming winter.

“Cold don’t really bother me,” he said. “I don’t like to have to sit out in it without being able to move around.”

Siever’s neighbor, Christine Hiatt, has become so concerned about his well-being, she started a GoFundMe site entitled “Help Boe Rebuild His Home.”

“…he found this sweet dog as a puppy,” Hiatt wrote on the fundraising page, “starving, covered in fleas and terrified of people. He nursed him back to health and has gone without so much just to make sure his dog has what he needs. He has been trying to gather enough money to get a small camper for him to live in.”

Hiatt says she’d like to get her neighbor and his dog some shelter. “I would also like to make sure he has food on the table. I think as Americans, everyone has that right.”

Sievers, in the meantime, is looking for silver linings and keeping a positive attitude.

“[My dog] crawls up into my sleeping bag. I tell you what, he’s a little heater,” Sievers said.

The nerve-racking experience happened when the small dog fell into the river from a bridge overpass. He was able to seek refuge among large boulders in the middle of the river, but as the crowd and rescue workers gathered around him, he got spooked and jumped back into the water.

The violent tumbling left him with a laceration to a paw and the blunt force he felt by the submerged rocks knocked the air out of him. Additionally, the cold water temperatures froze his extremities making it harder for him to swim.

As the river dragged the dog away from rescuers, from one bridge crossing to the next, a taxi driver watching the rescue jumped into action and saved the dog himself. The man descended to the river’s edge and caught the drowning dog as he floated nearby.

Soon after, police met the man and CPR efforts were initiated. The dog was found semi unconscious but thanks to rescuers, he was brought back to life.

Once out of danger rescuers transported the pet to a local veterinarian. The vet donated his services, treated the pet for hypothermia, and cleaned and closed the laceration on the paw. Afterwards, the lucky survivor was taken to a shelter and will soon be placed for adoption.

Thanks to police officers and the taxi driver, the dog who almost drown in the river now has a second chance in life.

Barry Stewart is the amazing teacher inspiring kids to do more for other. He wanted to motivate his students to learn skills they will use as adults, helping them better prepare for the future, and in 2002 he started a program where his shop students learned basic construction skills while building dog houses. The houses are donated to the Houses for Hounds program run by the Forsyth County Animal Control.

Since the beginning of this program, the students have mastered construction skills and donated more than 600 dog house to low-income pet owners and animal welfare groups.

The teenagers have not only learned a wonderful skill, but this opportunity have also led them to design better homes for dogs in need. The houses now feature removable roofs, doorways positioned on the side of the homes to protect pets against wind, and a two-inch raised entryway to prevent pets from removing their beds.

This shows how the right guidance helps our future leaders to think of others first. Doing good things doesn’t take much, and the world would be a better place if compassion is taught at a young age.

The shop students now plan to add feeding stations to their goals and help even more animals in need. Think of all the homeless animals these feeding stations will help.

According to Nuevo Diario local residents couldn’t understand how the pooch reached the top of the footing, nevertheless they knew the dog’s new-found hiding place presented a greater danger and authorities were called for help.

Local firefighters Andrés Bertolino, Débora Montesinos, Yésica Sosa, Santiago Ledesma and Rodolfo Parrado were dispatched to the bridge and using ropes and ladders, they descended to the footing and successfully retrieved the homeless pet.

It took hero rescuers some time to gain the dog’s trust, but once he knew the men were there to save him, the dog allowed rescuers to place him inside a make-shift bag and hoist him to safety.

The tiny pooch arrived at the shelter on Jan. 9, 2016, three days later 41-year-old occupational therapist John Hwang captured the image and shared it on his Facebook page. Two days later Oliver found his home.

According to ABC News, Hwang spends his free time photographing shelter dogs and sharing those images on social media in an attempt to help homeless dogs find forever homes. When the avid photographer saw Oliver “praying,” he knew he had to snap a shot of that.

“Every time I tried to get up and move away from the kennel, he’d getting up on his hind legs and kept putting his paws together, as if he was begging me to help him,” said Hwang. “He would just come right up to the fence and he would do it. I said, ‘I got to get a photo of that.’”

Oliver’s praying photograph was shared on Facebook more than 2,500 times, and thanks to that image Oliver spent less than a week at the shelter.

Just last weekend, Joey was abandoned on the streets with nothing more than a blanket and a plastic bowl with water. The loyal pet stayed on the very same spot he last saw his owner as if to say he is staying there waiting for whoever left him to return.

Community members knew no one was coming back to get him and that’s when they came together to save this pet. Rescuers told The Dodo that a neighbor dropped off a box Joey could use as shelter. As the weather turned rainy and cold another person draped a tarp over the box for additional protection. Others dropped off blankets and food and worked towards gaining his trust, but as expected he trusted no one and every time someone tried to approach him he would run away.

What was needed was a trained professional to rescue him but no trained professional contacted by the caring residents had answered the calls or agreed to help.

“None of us are professionals,” Julian Rovito says. “We need people to help us with potential fosters. We’re willing to help with vet bills and stuff like that. We’re all dog lovers.”

Just yesterday after four days on the streets Joey was rescued. He was safely captured and with the use of a crate he was transported to a veterinarian. Best of all, Animal Recover Mission stepped up to sponsor the dog’s medical costs.

“Joey is at the vet,” said Rovito. “He pretty much passed out when he got to the run. The doctors didn’t want to probe him too much so they gave him antibiotics, flea/tick meds. He is getting a ton of attention and even gave a female handler a tail wag today!”

The once abused and unwanted dog will no longer go hungry or cold. From now on all he will now is love and this is all thanks to the animal loving community who helped rescue him.

Hospital workers don’t know the dog’s real name, but they dubbed him Pirata because no matter how hard they try to keep the dog outside hospital walls, the pooch re-enters the health center and visits the last place he saw his owner alive, room 404.

According to a local newspaper, when the pet owner died the hospital’s staff wanted the dog gone. However their feelings towards the pet changed when they realized how loyal the dog was. Now, Pirata is loved by all staff members and has been officially adopted as the hospital’s mascot.

Doctors and nurses know all Pirata wants is love and companionship, and with no owner to claim or love the dog, the only ones left to show him affection are hospital staff, patients and visitors.

The dog comes and goes as he pleases, he greets everyone and at time is even seen keeping other patients and visitors company. No one really knows where to find the dog during the day, but at night they can always find Pirata comfortably sleeping outside room 404.

Pirata, we are deeply sorry for your loss. It is comforting to know that during the most difficult time of your life, you’ve found new friends who have welcomed you with open arms.

On October 20, 2015, the stray dog was walking the streets of his neighborhood in Piura, Peru, when he fell into a canal. The waters in the canal had a strong current and the pet got washed away. Luckily, local residents heard the dog’s frantic cries and rushed to look for someone who could help rescue the dog.

It was 7:00 p.m. and the night watchman was doing his rounds when neighbors approached him and asked if he could do something. The man rushed over to the canal and with the help of other neighbors they organized a rescue mission.

Using ropes and a stretcher, the dog was pulled from the waters. Boby was then taken to the watchmen’s office where he was bathed and fed.

The neighborhood security man adopted the dog and Boby now has a home, meals and most importantly love.

Erhan Erol, a local resident, discovered the trapped puppies at Kumbahçe beach near the touristic town of Bodrum, and called authorities to get them rescued. The rescue mission could have easily become a recovery mission because the drainage pipe was slowly filling with seawater.

Firefighters tried for some time to reach and save the puppies, but all their attempts failed. Good thing the mother dog was near the scene on a balcony, suckling another puppy, and one of the firefighters noticed her puppy looked very much like the other eight trapped in the drain.

Quickly, rescuers called her over and helped her get down the pipe so she could finish rescuing her young babies.

The heroic mother retrieved all of her puppies in less than one hour, and the stray family was once again complete, and most importantly, safe.

Everyone, meet Pinkie, an 8-year-old cross breed who was taken to Blue Cross Animal Hospital in London for surgery. She had a painful ear condition, and her owners could no longer care for her. When she was at the hospital, the staff noticed that Pinkie was so desperate for human company. As soon as anyone would go near her, she would lift her paw for you to hold.
