Locals witnessed the monkey protecting the little guy from adult street dogs and were so impressed that they offered the pair some food.  The puppy was even given first dibs!

“People who have seen them all spoke of their strong mutual affection and described their bond as the most caring thing in the world,” onlooker Sasi Kumar told Indian news outlet Zee News.

“To take care of a puppy in danger and protect him like a parent, their undying affection gives us a valuable lesson about relationships.”

The incident wasn’t isolated, either.  She could be seen carrying the puppy around, leaping from branches with him in tow,  and grooming him, which is a bonding experience for social groups of animals.

Monkeys are very intelligent and resourceful, so who knows – maybe this was just a ploy to get some extra snacks from people.  But it’s far more likely that she was cast out from her troop or lost her own baby and was looking for a companion to care for.  In any event, it’s adorable, and hopefully their love is still going strong.

A man in India was probably thinking of just that when he ventured with his dog on a highway. The pet owner doesn’t have a car, or at least was not using one when this video was recorded.  Instead he is traveling on a motorcycle, and so is the pooch.

Safety comes first and that’s why the dog is wearing a helmet.

Sure, having a dog sitting on the back of a bike doesn’t sound safe at all, but at least this man and his dog are following traffic laws and making an effort to stay safe.

They won’t be getting a ticket for not wearing a helmet.

Parts of this video are not in English, but there are subtitles, and it is well worth the watch to see how much love and devotion this man has for India’s stray and street animals.

“In the beginning, I was a little afraid of dogs.  But then when I began working with them, I got to understand,” Balu explained (translated into English).  “I decided that I’m not going to do anything else – whatever I do has to be with animals.  Now I am married, and my wife is an animal lover, as well.”

He earns a living by charging a minimal amount to pet owners and the NGO (Non Governmental Organization) for transport and boarding.

“I keep five to six dogs at home, some with broken legs and paws,” Balu said.

Dogs that don’t stay with him are often entrusted to Vinod Salvi, who runs Pets Force.

“I don’t like the name, ‘shelter,’ Vinod explained. “It means keeping dogs inside small rooms. So I like the name ‘farm,’ not ‘shelter.’ Balu drops them off here; after that I manage their day care.”

Though most people are supportive, Balu often faces castigation and bullying from others who think these animals should just be killed. But he doesn’t care what they think – he knows the work he does is invaluable, and will continue to do so for as long as he can.

Though squeezing her through caused her to be pinched a little, the team easily managed the task of getting her out.  Once free, she was naturally grateful, and doled out kisses at the rescue group’s home base.

And Animal Aid didn’t just save her once – they did it twice.  She also had mange, which would have eaten her alive had she not been taken in.

When it comes down to it, true friendship knows no boundaries. At least, that’s the message this monkey and puppy duo are giving to the world.

Earlier this month, a rhesus macaque monkey in Rode, India decided to rescue a puppy and take it in as her own. She even defended the little guy from stray dogs, in quite an aggressive manner.

When feeding the puppy, she even allows it to eat first. It’s basically a match made in wild animal heaven.

The monkey continues to care for the puppy as if she gave birth to him.

The locals were so touched by this act of affection that they began to help them out and leave food for them to eat.

Animal Aid Unlimited from India shares this video and these photos of an amazing transformation.  You simply have to see this to believe it.  When first found, the dog was suffering through one of the worst cases of mange the rescuers had ever seen.  Things did not look good.

Miraculously, after just ten days of treatment, the dog started to turn around.  He is still doing well, and is looking for a proper forever home, with a loving family.  With his fresh, new coat, he seems to be much happier, and is an all around sweet heart of a dog.

He recovered from his poor health in a relatively short amount of time.  This was a good thing, considering the doctors did’t hold much hope for him to survive  Against all odds, he survived long enough to be rescued and every day that passes, he gets healthier and better.  Thanks to the caring people at Animal Aid Unlimited, this dog will live to see another day.
