We truly admire people who go out of their way and even risk their own lives to save animals. They are heroes.

The firemen in the video below truly are heroes. These brave firefighters entered a burning home in Sacramento in search of victims and to see the source of the fire. They didn’t find any humans inside, but they found a dog, hiding in the back bedroom. The firemen then quickly got the dog out of the burning home.

The rescue was caught on the fireman’s helmet cam. Watch the footage below!

Thankfully, the dog was unharmed. She was reunited with her owner who was waiting outside. A big thank you to the brave firemen for saving that poor dog. You guys are truly amazing!

Luckily, the man had woken up to discover what was going on and chased quickly after the menacing creature. Not knowing what to expect, his wife started throwing different objects at the mountain lion to try and scare it away but had no success with it.

The mountain lion still kept dragging the dog away until it had been jumped on and wrestled away. The dog is slated to make a full recovery, only a little spooked after the attack. It is highly advised to keep all pets inside during this time of year when migratory animals and any other animals are lurking outside.

As neighbours called 911 and looked on from the front lawn as the fire consumed the home, a total stranger suddenly leapt into action.

“This guy in a grey Mustang pulls up, says, ‘I do this for a living,’ and he runs in and he comes out about two minutes later with this beautiful dog in his arms, and it was incredible to see,” Jimmy Nichols, the man who shot the above video, told WSMV News in Nashville, Tennessee.

For several tense minutes, we don’t see the Good Samaritan emerge from the burning home, as flames continue to consume the roof and upper levels.

The man’s decision to run in after the dog isn’t universally-admired either, with one of the bystanders calling the man an “idiot” as he waits for him to return.
Eventually the man emerges, dog safely in tow.

Eventually, the family was able to identify Sampson’s rescuer as Tim Tawater, an off-duty Springfield firefighter – which would explain the “I do this for a living” comment.

“I want to really thank him for everything he has done. It’s just really an act of kindness,” the couple’s 13-year-old daughter Kirsten Spilka told WKRN-TV in Nashville, Tennessee.

Recently on an Air Canada flight from Tel Aviv to Toronto, a flight was turned around when a heating mechanism failed in the cargo hold. The passengers on the main deck would have been perfectly fine, but just as the plane approached the Atlantic Ocean, the pilot made the executive decision to turn the plane around. And why? Because one of the passengers had their seven-year-old French Bulldog, Simba, maintained in the cargo hold. For fear that the dog would likely freeze to death, the pilot made the thoughtful decision to turn around. This $10,000 decision was worth more than money could ever put a price tag on for one extremely grateful owner:

It was nighttime when the SITP bus driver noticed the injured pet in the middle of the road along his route. Without hesitating, the driver stopped, lowered the bus and used a piece of a box as a stretcher to pick up the dog.

The driver then placed the dog inside the bus and passengers looked after the pet until he was dropped off at a vet clinic.  Thanks to this heroic bus driver, the dog is alive and well today.

While Martínez was out on a family walk with his son, wife, and a family friend, the animal lovers heard the frantic barks and cries of dogs. When they investigated they found three puppies trapped in a tar well.

Immediately, the good Samaritans jumped into action and pulled all three dogs from the tar, but they needed experienced animal rescuers to help clean the dogs and take care of them.

After three hours of clean up, rescuers decided to let the dogs rest and continue with their clean up effort the following morning. Chapa and Pote were so exhausted that once the bath sessions stopped, they simply fell asleep. The following morning, rescuers resumed their cleaning efforts and they were finally able to completely clean the dogs.

It is a miracle that Chapa and Pote are alive today. Rescuers want justice and want whoever dumped the dogs in the tar prosecuted for his or her actions. If the animal abuser is identified, he or she will face 18 months of incarceration for animal cruelty. Sadly, there are no leads as of yet.

Hello, Zoey is a year and a half old shepherd mix, I rescued her approximately one year ago from a no kill shelter after returning home from the military. She is a very sweet, loving, happy rescue who loves playing with her friends at the dog park, going on bike rides, runs, nature walks, playing at the beach and so much more. However, this has all since been limited and put on hold to lessen the damages being done to her heart until I am able to have her surgery done.

Zoey’s cause:
A couple months ago she was diagnosed with a grade 4-5 heart murmur and upon her echocardiogram it was discover she has severe type a valvular pulmonary stenosis, restricting the blood flow to her lungs, forcing certain parts of her heart to work much harder, which has begun thickening the walls of her heart. Eventually this will lead to a premature cardiac death if not taken care of. We are asking for donations of any size to help us get one step closer to saving Zoey’s heart.  Thank you!

He not only managed to get an emaciated and very sick dog off the streets, but brought the dog back to full health.  The dog is currently staying with Coitinho, and is recovering quite nicely.  All of it thanks to this heroic man, and the medical care staff that helped treatments go smoothly.  All of them are very heroic people, and deserve some recognition for their efforts.

If you were to ask Mr. Coitinho what the reasons behind the effort are, he simply says, “Rescuing and rehabilitating injured and abused animals is just my thing.”

Here we have another woman who did everything she could just to earn the dog’s trust. Her name is Amanda. Amanda even got down on the ground in a fetal position and waited for the dog to get comfortable with her.

Amanda knew about the stray dog when she was tagged in a post about a dog up at Evan’s Creek, an off-roading-vehicle park. The poor dog was emaciated. It was night time when Amanda and her friend Dylan drove to the area to help the dog. They found him sitting by the roadside. They tried to coax him with some food, but that didn’t get them very far.

They then went back to town to get more food. When they returned the next day, they were more prepared. And they found the dog on the same spot. They named the dog Bear. But even with more food, they can’t seem to get near him. So Amanda got down on the ground in a fetal position.

Amanda crawled to Bear, and when she got nearer, Bear growled at first. Amanda made a whimpering, yawning sound- a calming signal. Then she drew nearer until she was right next to him. Then Bear began to cuddle with her.

After hours of trying to get close to Bear, he finally let her pet him. And after two hours of petting him, Bear allowed her to slip a lead on him.

They are still looking for Bear’s family. And if no one comes after 30 days, they will find him a loving forever home.

Londyn was emaciated, sickly, and ready to die outside of a San Antonio high school until five teen guys saved her life.  A fundraiser for her medical care has already been exceeded, and she’s been taken in by a rescue group who is trying to find her a home where she can recover.

The five students – Brandon Noriega, Roland Bazan, Joseph Rangel, Ivan Zarate, and Luis Villanueva – saw her ambling around near the track outside of their classroom.

“It broke my heart, ya know,” Rangel told KENS 5.
The boys brought her water and took turns sitting with her until rescuers from Protecting Animals within San Antonio (PAWS) could arrive to help. Because the group has a club on campus, the students already knew who to contact.

“[We’re] trying to lower the stray population in San Antonio. It’s a really big issue that not many people pay attention to. But we’re trying to raise awareness and get more people involved,” said PAWS president Samantha Jasso.

Only weighing 27 pounds when she was found, rescuers said the six- or seven-year-old Lab mix likely had only hours left to live.  She was taken to Callaghan Animal Hospital where, in addition to being severely malnourished and loaded with ticks, Londyn was diagnosed with a venereal tumor, heartworms and Ehrlichiosis (a disease transmitted by ticks that can destroy many of the body’s systems).

She survived on garbage and knew nothing of human kindness, so the first few days were difficult.  She wasn’t eating well and the likelihood of her survival was slim.  A fundraiser of $2,500 was launched to cover the costs of chemotherapy and other treatment.  Within days, donations surpassed $2,600.

After a week in the clinic, she was taken to a foster home where she finally ate a full meal.  Her weakened condition left her unable to do much more than stumble around, but now she’s gaining enough strength to walk a little bit.  She is still easily exhausted and has trouble sitting and lying down without assistance.  But she’s learning to trust humans and is coming out of her shell.

She still has a long way to go, but her foster dad Daniel is working to make her stronger and more confident and trusting every day. She will begin chemo on the 21st of this month.

A mother dog in Valparaiso Chile showed how much a mother really loves her offspring when she acted on instinct and did whatever she could to save her nine puppies from a forest fire. She and her puppies were trapped in a forest fire and if it wasn’t for her quick thinking, her puppies would’ve died. What did the brave mother do? She buried her puppies to protect them.

The mother dog lead her puppies away from the fire. She found a metal container, and dug a hole under it for her puppies to take shelter. After making sure her puppies are safe, the mother dog ran away and found a place for her to take cover.

After the firefighters fought the flames, the local residents told them what happened to the mother dog and her puppies. Rescuers then searched for the dog and the puppies. They found the puppies alive and well under the metal container. The mother dog was found taking cover in a nearby burned down home. She was staying close to her puppies the whole time.

They named the mother dog Negrita. Now, she and her puppies are with an animal organization. A lot of people were so amazed by this mother dog’s heroic act that a lot of locals have come forward to give donations. Some of them were interested in adopting the family!

Frankie’s nose was able to determine whether a patient had cancer or not in 30 of 34 cases, which is an amazing ratio considering humans often have a difficult time determining whether or not a person has thyroid cancer, even with extensive testing.

This important discovery has prompted researchers to see if other dogs could be trained similarly because it could save an abundance of lives. It could help people realize there is an emergency even when they don’t suspect anything. Plus, it would give dogs important, life-saving jobs.

Norman Santiago is king in his children’s eyes after he ran up to their third floor apartment to save his daughter’s dog from the fire that had broken out.  While he was up there, he also was able to save a neighbor’s life by warning her of the danger while she still had time to get out.

The father of three was closing up the Market Street Sports Bar and Restaurant he manages in Bangor, Pennsylvania early on New Year’s Eve morning when he heard screaming.  Santiago heading up the alley towards his apartment building when he realized the terrified shouts were his own children’s.

His eldest daughter, 16-year-old Noriya, was crying.  She explained that her 10-year-old dog Malo was trapped upstairs.  Flames emerging from the top floor could be seen on the street below.  Santiago bolted inside.

It appeared that the fire was on the other side of the building from his apartment, so he believed he had enough time to make it.  When Santiago got up there, he could hear Malo crying and scratching at the door.

“And I did make it,” he said.  “I would have taken a burn for him.”

Santiago grabbed Malo and began to dash downstairs.  He watched as a door on the second floor collapsed, and found that his neighbor’s door was locked.  He banged on the door until she answered.  She was unaware of the fire, and grabbed her coat to rush outside with them.

The hero couldn’t fully absorb the whirlwind of events – he was just grateful that everybody – including his ten-year-old daughter Soniya and seven-year-old son Noel – made it out alive.

“I thank God because even though it was a tragedy, everyone came out safe,” Santiago said.

The first and second floor may be salvageable, but the third floor has been completely ravaged. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley is helping the 12 affected people (and Malo) with food, clothing, coats and lodging.
