Turnbow was riding on Highway 171 near Cresson, Texas, when something odd caught his eye.

“[I] was riding out an saw a vehicle pulled over on 171 with a worthless piece of crap beating an innocent little white dog,” posted Turnbow on Facebook. “I watched in my rear view and saw this guy throw the dog into the air curbside and drive off.”

After the dog was abandoned, the hero rescuer went to check on the dog. Th pet was on the side of the highway, at risk of getting run over by other vehicles. Turnbow picked him up and quickly rode to catch up with the former abusive owner.

“I went after the guy just to give him a number one sign. And I now have a Co pilot- Meet Mr. DAVIDSON,” he wrote on his Facebook post.

Mr. Davidson is one lucky dog. He now enjoys a pampered life full of love. When he is not lounging on a comfortable dog bed, he is playing with Turnbow’s other dog named Harley, or inspiring his musically talented new owner to write songs.

No one knows what drove Mr. Davidson’s former owner to abuse and dispose of him in such cruel manner, but things happen for a reason, and if it wasn’t for that horrific experience this dog would have not ended in the loving home he is in today.

Williams told NBC 4 New York she found the abandoned dog by pure chance. Her own dog broke lose from the leash and led the woman to the discarded lab-pit mix.

“She wouldn’t stand up for me,” said Williams, “so I just wrapped the coat around her and picked her up.”

While carrying her home, the kind woman noticed blood dripping from the dog’s paws and that’s when she realized the pooch had been frozen to the ground.

Sean Casey Animal Rescue in Windsor Terrace was called to help the injured dog. She was rushed to a veterinarian and it was determined that aside from the paw injuries, the dog also suffers other serious ailments. Vets and rescuers are not sure if she will make a full recovery, but everyone involved hopes she has a fighting spirit and pulls through.

Sean Casey says the lab-pit mix is only alive today because Williams found her and reached out for help.

On February 1, 2016, a local rescue group by the name CC RezQs Regina took in the abused dog. They named her Arrow and rushed her to TM’z Veterinary Clinic where emergency surgery was performed.

“Arrow is considered the luckiest dog in the world,” CC RezQs said. The arrow narrowly missed her spinal cord.

TM’z veterinarian Gerad Cantin said this was the first case they’ve seen where an animal suffers an “intended lethal shot with a bow and arrow.”

Whoever is responsible for attempting against Arrow’s life has perfectly bad aim. The criminal missed the spinal cord and all major organs. The only damage done was the traumatic experiences she lived for two days and a wound that only needs weeks of rest, pain medications and antibiotics.

Veterinarians and rescuers expect the dog to be up and running like normal in no time.

As for the animal abuser, police are on the case tracking him or her down.

According to WKOW, police officers were called to the wildlife area after a group of people found a camping bag moving and tossing on the ground. Upon opening the bag, the concerned citizens found a malnourished elderly black lab wrapped in a blanket and with had multiple head wounds.

The dog was rushed to a veterinarian and a total of 19 stitches were needed to close the deep lesions on her head. Veterinarians said even though Misty had sustained unimaginable abuse, she would recover. Today, she is alive and thriving.

When news broke about the injured pet, 56-year-old Terri Lynn Benson came forward and identified herself as the dog’s owner.

Benson told police the night before Misty was found injure in the woods she got out and came back home “acting goofy.” She was throwing up, having uncontrollable bowel movements and seizures. Not knowing what to do the woman took the dog for a ride.

“I thought she was dead,” Benson told police. “I didn’t have any money to do anything, my other half did call [Dr. Michael] Cooper about putting her down.”

The pet owner admitted disposing of the dog’s body in the woods after she believed Misty died in the car. However, authorities questioned Benson about the head injuries and she confessed using a hammer to put an end to her suffering pet.

Fifty dollars would have been the cost to humanly euthanize Misty, but instead her owner placed a blanket over her head and hit her with a hammer multiple times.

Benson has been charged with mistreatment of animals, disorderly conduct use of dangerous weapon and animal abandonment. She is scheduled to appear in court next month to face her punishment.

The dog is under the care of Columbia County Humane Society and has made a remarkable recovery. People across the nation have shown their support by donating towards her care and sending gifts. The shelter has also received more than 50 requests to adopt the elderly dog. However, there are other health issues that need to be cleared before she could move into a forever home.

It all started when neighbors of the 732 Huffman Ave. residence reported two dogs abandoned in the home. One was left out in the cold, while another one was inside the empty house. Two neighbors, Lodia Furnas and Jim Chadwell, had been feeding the dog in backyard and throwing blankets to help him survive the extreme cold temperatures, but they knew no one was looking after the pets and both dogs needed to be removed from the property.

According to WHIO News, animal control officers had been visiting the residence multiple times a day to check on the dogs and to leave notices for the pet owner. However, removing the dogs proved difficult because the pets were legally registered and the owner had to be tracked down first, and asked to sign over the pets before they could be removed.

After learning the dogs’ owner had been in jail since December 2015, rescuers took the man to court and legally seized the pets.

The two dogs were safely removed from the property today, around 8:00 p.m. and are currently being cared for by the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center.

Lets hope these two dogs never again go hungry or left out to fend for themselves in freezing temperatures.

Christopher Rushton and Kirsty Halesm admitted they had no experience as dog owners since they had never own a pet, but nevertheless, the 37- and 29-year-old first-time pet owners bought William online and drove him to his malnourished state.

Not knowing how much to feed the dog or how to care for the pet, William was surrendered unable to stand on his own and with every bone on his body visibly showing. What’s worse, the dog lay in his own urine and feces.

The couple surrendered the pet saying they had found him on the side of a road, but after an investigation, Rushton and Halesm were identified as the pet’s owners and faced animal abuse charges. A judge found the inexperienced dog owners guilty, and sentenced them to a life-time ban of pet ownership, 12-week prison sentences, 12 months suspensions, 35 hours of unpaid work and each had to pay more than $2,500 in fines.

According to Express News William found his loving forever home with RSPCA press officer Rachel Butler and her partner Chris Mallett. At his new home, the prince dog met his fur-sibling named Harry and is currently being nursed back to health.

Today, William weights a 30 lbs. and lives the life of a true Prince. He continues his road to recovery and is expected to live a royal life.

The owner of this dog seems very content to have recreated the old horse drawn carriage idea, but instead of a horse he uses a dog. He seems very please to have to do pretty much nothing to get from point A to point B, but we are not happy at all with this.

Last month, residents of a Madrid, Spain, neighborhood discovered a young dog trapped inside a garbage container and not being able to rescue the dog themselves, they called authorities to make them aware of the abused animal.

Workers from Sevemur, a Madrid Emergency Veterinary Service, arrived at the scene and were able to rescue the dog.

The pet was transported to an emergency clinic where veterinarians found the pooch suffered from dehydration, diarrhea and a swollen snout. Rescuers also feared the young animal also suffered from other bacterial diseases like parvo, but after running medical tests, no bacterial infections were found in the puppy’s system.

There are no leads on who might have abused and dumped Robbin. Rescue workers just hope the puppy finds a loving forever home in a few weeks when he is given a clean bill of health.

When Spirit and her owner walked into PAWS Atlanta on Sept. 19, 2015, the skin and bones dog weighed 30.6 lbs. Her healthy weight should have been 55 lbs, but for unknown reasons, she was 20 lbs underweight.

We spoke with Jacki McDonald, PAWS Atlanta Director of Marketing & Development, who said the dog owner stated she had only had Spirit for a few months and no longer wanted to keep the pet due to allergies.

Questions such as how Spirit got to be so malnourished and why will for now go unanswered. There is a pending police investigation and little information is being released.

Worrying for the dog’s health, veterinarians ran tests to make sure Spirit did not have other underlining ailments.

“[There were] no intestinal parasites to cause such weight loss,” said McDonald. “[She is] heartworm negative and her blood work is ok so far. We need to monitor her organs to see if [there is] any long term damage from severe lack of nutrition.”

As police continue to investigate this case, Spirit is learning what love and proper nutrition feels like. She is currently in foster care with one of PAWS Atlanta’s very own vet technicians.

At first, Spirit showed signs of abuse. “She was very unsure of new people, resistant to being touched, would cry out into the air if approached,” said McDonald, “but she already has become more comfortable, snuggles with her foster family and other dogs on the couch.

Spirit’s previous owner has an upcoming court date and if convicted of animal abuse, the woman could be fine and a given a ban on animal ownership, but this will all be determined by a judge.

The road to recovery for Spirit will be a long one. She will be made available for adoption once she is completely healthy and ready to move into a family environment. For now, anyone interested in helping the young dog should consider making a donation at

According to arrest records, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office says the woman did this to stop the dog from barking.  It also says she then took photos of the dog, and posted them to her page on the popular social media site, Facebook with the caption of “Ha ha.”

Another Facebook user caught wind of the pictures, and after checking them out, reported the page to Facebook, and the local sheriff’s office.  When police reported to the scene, she advised them that she took the tape off immediately after taking the picture and posting it.

After the arrest and arraignment, Howell posted the following to her Facebook page:

“Wow!  OK.  Maybe I should of said I was joking when posting that.  But honestly though people would know better anyone who spend (sic) a week at my house would see how spoiled and loved my dog is.  Anyways guess I really didn’t think through but anyone who knows me knows when I got Leah she [was] skin and bones how (sic) that animal (was) abused (sic).”

“I have made my mistakes in life too, and believe me either I’ve paid for them or am still paying for them.  But to call me an animal abuser or child abuser, that’s so not true.”

Regardless, animal abuse is abuse, no matter what light you paint it in.  As of the writing of this article, it is not known what type of or how many sanctions Howell will be facing.
