The news came to the family unexpectedly. In January 2016, Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) picked up the dog as a stray and after scanning him for a microchip, one was found. Thanks to it, MCASAC contacted Alicia via email to let her know her dog was alive and well.

As soon as the pet owners learned the good news they made plans to reunite with the dog. On February 1, 2016, Alicia flew back to Texas and embraced her beloved pooch.

In a video posted on YouTube, the pet owner says there were tears of joy when the family learned Corey was alive. New pet clothes and even a celebratory cake were bought for the happy reunion.

Even though Corey spent months away from his loved ones, the bond between him and his owners is still intact.

The dog was in a car with Hamel’s granddaughter when the accident took place, and when the car’s door was opened, Murphy took off running because he was so scared.

According to WCAX News Hamel’s granddaughter and some friends tried getting a hold of the pet by chasing him, but this just made matters worse.

When the community learned about the spooked dog many tried capturing the dog. More than once Hamel received tips on when Murphy was last seen, but every time he came face to face with the dog and called out his name, the pet who was on survival mode would just run away.

“We saw him once down in Waterbury across from Shaws. One day he was sleeping down there next to an excavator — just sleeping in the sun at noon one day. I walked up, spoke his name, and he just ran away,” Hamel said.

Wilson Ring lived in the area and had never met Hamel or his dog before but when he learned about the elusive pet and found Murphy in a field behind his house, he stepped up to help. Ring constructed a humane trap and left food for the dog every night. Murphy was once trapped in there but the scared dog chewed his way out of the trap.

Not giving up on rescuing the pet, Ring came up with a foolproof trap and on Jan. 9, 2016 Murphy was finally caught.

“We had an electric eye to trigger the trap that was run with a battery and a magnet, and as soon as he cut it, the magnet let go and the gate fell,” said Ring. “That’s how we got him.”

Murphy was found in overall good health but needed grooming. The caring community raised $600 towards the dog’s needs.

“Just amazing how well people have responded. I couldn’t have asked for nicer people to be involved, especially since I knew none of them when I started,” said Hamel.

Murphy is back home where he belongs and is back to his old usual self. Hamel says that the dog acts as if he had never been away from home, not even for one day.

The Peels had planned the perfect destination wedding for New Year’s Eve near Torpoint, east Cornwall. Marley came along for the celebration and while his owners were tying the knot he was at a local kennel. Unfortunately, as Jade walked down the isle to say “I do,” the dog escaped the kennel and got lost in an unfamiliar place.

The newlyweds’ family learned the news as the ceremony took place, but to not spoil the wonderful event, they kept quite until the next day. When Jade and Michael learned Marley was missing they immediately cancelled their honeymoon and the remaining of their two day wedding celebration. The only thing they wanted to do was find their dog.

“To steal a dog, I mean, I can’t even imagine why someone would do that,” Pittinger told KING 5 news.

Luckily, four days after starting a massive Facebook campaign and plastering “lost” fliers all over town, Macy was found and returned home.

Elizabeth Resendiz who lives 14 miles away from Pittinger’s home found the Pit bull running lose in a park. She recognized the pet from the shared Facebook posts and scared the dog would run into traffic and get killed, Resendiz picked up the 40 lbs. pooch and carried her home.

“I took off my jacket hoping Maci wouldn’t bite me and I wrapped my jacket around her because she looked very scared and cold,” said the rescuer. “But Maci was actually very obedient.”

The kind woman contacted Pittinger, gave her the good news and arranged to have Macy get back home where she belongs.

Macy’s owner is forever grateful that a kind stranger helped the dog get out of harms way and back home. “I owe so much to her,” said Pittinger. “As soon as I got Macy home, she ran to my husband and just curled up in his arms. And has been by our sides ever since.”

Two months ago Freddie was home in Blagdon, England, but while out in the yard, the dog got spooked by gun shots. Scared for his life, the pet ran away and got lost. His family posted fliers and searched the neighborhood, but Freddie was nowhere to be found.

Afraid young William wouldn’t understand what had happened to his best friend, the boy’s parents told the child his best friend had gone on a very long walk. Meanwhile, they desperately hoped the pet would turn out somewhere.

Right before Christmas 2015, Freddie was spotted 70 miles away from home in Bournemouth, England. He was picked up and taken to a veterinarian who scanned him for a microchip. Thanks to the registered microchip, Freddie reunited with his family.

No one really knows how Freddie made it to Bournemouth, but if he walked there, it took him 21 hours straight.

On April of 2009, the Marks went on vacation to Pioche Hills (a mountain range in southeastern Nevada) and took their three Shetland sheepdogs with them. Willie and his fur brother Waylon took off running after a rabbit but only Waylon returned.

The pet owners posted fliers and looked for their pet everyday of their vacation, but once vacation was over, the family had to go back home without Willie.

Six years later, the Marks couldn’t believe when an animal shelter in Elko, Nevada, called to say they had picked up Willie as a stray. Elko was hundreds of miles away from where the Shetland sheepdog had gotten lost and it had been years since Marks had seen their dog.

It turns out Willie walked 300 miles from Pioche Hills to Eureka, Nevada, back in 2009. There, the town sheriff picked up the dog who was in very bad shape and had a leg injury. After nursing him back to health, the sheriff gave the dog to a local woman who had cared and loved the pet all this time as if the dog was her own.

This December, Willie took off running again and that’s when he was picked up by the animal shelter, scanned for a chip and reunited with his original family.

David Marks told ABC News the woman who cared for Willie all these years was a bit broken hearten to lose her dog, but she understood Willie is back where he belongs.

“[Reuniting with Willie] was an absolute surprise and the perfect Christmas gift,” said Marks. “We’ve been introducing him again to everybody, but it’s just like he never left.”

On July 2012, Kupserman was driving his car and Bear was with him, unfortunately they were involved in a car wreck along the 120 Loop near Marietta, Ga. The dog who was afraid of loud noises, got spooked and ran away when the car door was opened. Thomas and Kupserman searched for their pet, posted fliers and even sent out mass mailings with “Lost” fliers, but after six months of search and no Bear in sight, the pet owners believed someone had found the dog and kept him

Little did the owners know Bear never wandered too far from the car accident scene. The dog took refuge in a nearby junkyard and he spent his time waiting for his humans to come find him.

Sparks and Bagwell learned about the junkyard dog two years after the accident and spent 13 months working to gain Bear’s trust. On November 22, 2015, they finally rescued him.

Since spotting the dog, the women took turns feeding him. Not knowing his name, they called him “Cornbread” and visited the junkyard every day, spending hours sitting on dirt roads, throwing treats and trying to establish a connections. Sparks was able to get Bear to eat from her hand a few times, when whenever she tried to place a leash around him, the dog would get spooked and run away.

During those 13 months the women rescued four other dogs, and witnessed how many irresponsible pet owners would come to the junkyard to dispose of their pets. Now, thanks to the two rescuers and the help of junkyard workers, the dogs toss there have a chance to find better lives.

Two weeks before Bear was rescued, Sparks and Bagwell consulted with renowned dog rescuer Eldad Hagar. He told them that in order to rescue the skittish dog they should build him a large dog pen where Bear would get used to eating. Once he got accustomed to his new routine, the women could try to trap him inside the pen. And just like that, two weeks later after speaking with Hagar, Bear was trapped.

Sparks always hoped the dog would be microchipped, she wished nothing more than to reunite him with his family, however she secretly thought that if Bear had no chip, he would become a permanent member of her family.

Once rescued, Bear spent the day with Sparks and her family, he decompressed and enjoyed the company of humans around him, the next morning, the dog was taken to Veterinary Clinic West where he was scanned for a chip. One was found and his owners, Thomas and Kupserman, were contacted.

No one knew how Bear would react to meeting his owners three years later. Sparks had always know the dog to be a little reclusive. At the junkyard he was a loner who didn’t socialize with humans or the other dumped dogs, his only friend was a rooster. However, the dog came to life and leaped forward to greet and kiss his humans as soon as Thomas and Kupserman walked through the door.

“I was in the room protecting Bear,” Sparks told us. “I was hesitant he wouldn’t like them [his owners]. He was lying down and sat up when [Thompson] walked in. She walked in crying and not even 30 seconds later, Bear sat up and started jumping for his owner. His tail was not tucked in anymore and his entire body was wiggling. When I saw him do that I knew he was home. I knew he was loved and they loved him.”

Bear spent three years near the accident area hoping to reunite with his owners. “If they had ever looked up, they would had seen him up on the junkyard’s dirt hill,” said Sparks. The good news is that Bear is now back home where he belongs with his humans.

Sparks and Bagwell are not affiliated with any registered rescue organization, and even though they depend on their own means to help abandoned dogs, they continue to help unwanted area dogs. The pet owners are from Fort Collins, Wyo., and in August, they took their dog camping about 60 miles west of Laramie, but according to a Coloradoan.com report, the pet ran away and got lost after getting spooked by gunfire.

The Whitsitts searched for their dog but didn’t find him. They enlisted the help of family members and contacted the local humane society to report their missing pet, but in the end the heart broken couple had to return home without Hank.

For two months, the Whitsitts hoped to received calls with sightings of their dog, but other than one call from a hunter who though he had spotted the dog, the couple had no news of their missing dog.

Knowing  the area was roamed by coyotes, mountain lions and even bears, the Whitsitts believed there was little hope for Hank to be alive. Three weeks after losing Hank a new four legged member joined the family to try to bring happiness back into the empty household.

Two days short of 60 days since Hank’s disappearance, the Larimer Humane Society called asking to get Hank’s registration renewed. That’s when Tiffany decided to officially declared Hank dead, but just 72 hours later, their beloved pet was found.

Home Again, the company with whom Hank’s microchip had been registered called to inform the pet owners that the dog had been found walking along a highway, just an hour-long drive from French Creek. The Whitsitts didn’t want to get their hopes up because they didn’t believe Hank could have survived the wilderness all this long, but they agreed to meet the dog identified as Hank. When they met, tears of joy gushed out because it was true, Hank was alive.

The pet was taken to a vet. He lost about 20 lbs and needed grooming desperately, but the veterinarian who examined Hank ran tests and said he had been surviving on rabbits. His hunting instincts and the few extra pounds he had on when he got lost helped him survive the wilderness.

The Whitsitts are happy their family is complete. Tiffany, Travis, Hank and the new Australian shepherd puppy named Gus.

The theft took place in August 2015 and the worried pet owner was distraught thinking she would never see her pet again, but thanks to a police, the suspects – two men, aged 34 and 22, and a 23-year-old woman – where arrested and charged with felony charges.

“I had been so worried about Lola since she went missing so when I got the call from the police I was over the moon,” said Witham. “As soon as I saw [Lola,] her little tail went into overdrive and I instantly knew it was her. I am just so happy to have her back.”

We are glad the thieves were caught and Lola reunited with her loved one.

Animal Control workers found a foster home for Lily (the were calling her “Roo”) while they launched a campaign to get her the ideal forever home. They put together a press release package with pictures and information on the dog. A local news station ran a televised news story of Lily/Roo and her owners Katera Williams and husband Jermaine McCorvey recognized their pet and went to claim their dog.

Williams told AZCentral she had gone out of town and left her dog with a friend,. On an outing to a dog, Lily was left unattended for a few minutes before vanishing. Williams believes a passerby saw the dog all alone and thought she had been abandoned. The person took the pet and turned her in at an animal hospital.

Lily joined her family in Dec. 17, 2014 after she was found in a dumpster. McCorvey adopted the dog after a veterinarian examined the pet.

In the past, Williams and her husband tried to raise funds using GoFundMe to get their disabled dog a doggy cart, but the donation page had been unsuccessful and Lily simply had to learn to mobilize as best she could with just her hind two legs

After the Maricopa Country Animal Care and Control launched their campaign, many animal lovers offered to help Lily. Cheryl Hintzen-Gaines and her husband from Phoenix, stepped up to pay for prosthesis or a wheel cart.

“I saw her on TV and she was [a] beautiful animal,” said Hintzen-Gaines. “I felt very sad to see this very active dog have to go around on her little stubby appendages. If prosthetics is what the dog needs, and/or little cart, we will do that.”

Thanks to a large community of animal lovers, Lily reunited with her loving family and is getting a wheel cart to help improve her quality of life.

“My dog and I were running down the trail and all of sudden he was gone,” Banzali told KTLA News. “I backtracked and I couldn’t find him, but I could hear him crying down in the canyon.”

When Banzali located her dog and realized she couldn’t get to him she called authorities. Rescue units from Altadena, Montrose and Sierra Madre responded to the emergency call and within two hours reunited Angel with his relieved owner.

Using ropes more that 700 ft. in length, two rescuers were carefully lowered to the small ravine where Angel was lying on. The dog suffered some minor scratched and was very scared, but after luring him with beef jerky, he was secured to a pet harness and hoisted up to safety.

“I’m so thankful to these guys, the Sheriff’s Department, search and rescue, ” said Banzali. “[Angel is] going to be on the leash from now on.”

“It was shattering,” Boozer’s owner Megan Marr told CBS Denver News.

Marr never expect to see the dog again, but last week Boozer arrived at the Foothills Animal Shelter and when scanned for a microchip, one was found. Thanks to this tiny device, a call was made and an emotional reunion between the dog and his true owners was made possible.

Lloyd Goldston said the years without his pet were tough on all family members. “We didn’t know if he was going to be mistreated, [but] despite that we never forgot about him.”

The family relocated to Colorado, but when they received that call, they packed up for an unforgettable road trip. Their beloved dog was waiting for them and the family wondered if their pet would recognize them. Despite their doubts, the Goldstons were ready to shower Boozer with hugs and kisses.

The reunion was an emotional one and there was not a dry eye in the room. Boozer seemed to be as happy to see his true owners as the Goldstons were to have him back in their arms.

“Whatever he’s got left, however many years he has left, it’s just going to be filled with love and family and fun. And you know, he’s home,” said Goldston.
